Chapter 597 The Wind Rises in Macau
Chapter 597 The Wind Rises in Macau
Ye Haoxuan nodded, and was about to chat a few more words when his cell phone suddenly rang. It was Tony calling, his tone somewhat serious:
"Brother Xuan, something happened in Macau! Dafei said that Xing Le Nightclub was vandalized this morning. Several tables were overturned. The perpetrators were from the local Macau triad 'Yi Lian Gang,' whose leader is called Sang Biao. They said it was retaliation for us intercepting Ah Le's reserve funds."
Ye Haoxuan's eyes instantly darkened. He'd barely settled in Haojiang and someone was already knocking on his door; it saved him the trouble of looking for them.
"Are any of Dafei's brothers injured?"
“No, Dafei reacted quickly and told the brothers to evade first, instead of fighting them head-on,” Tony said. “Dafei wanted to lead a counterattack, but I stopped him, afraid it would affect your reporting for duty tomorrow.”
“You did the right thing. It’s not a good time to cause trouble.” Ye Haoxuan thought for a few seconds and then said, “Call Gao Jin and have him handle it. He just surrendered and has connections in the Macau gambling scene. Have him talk to Sang Biao. It would be best if they could resolve it peacefully. If they can’t reach an agreement, then keep things calm for now and deal with it after I’ve reported for duty and things have stabilized.”
"Also, have him investigate the specific connections between Sang Biao and Ah Le's remnants, and see if he can uncover any more clues."
“Great idea! Gao Jin has influence in Macau, so he’s the most suitable person to step in.” Tony immediately agreed. “I’ll call Gao Jin and Da Fei right now.”
After hanging up the phone, Xiao Fangting asked worriedly, "Is everything alright in Haojiang?"
"It's a minor problem, it'll be resolved quickly." Ye Haoxuan ruffled her hair. "I need to go back to the base and give Tony a few more instructions to make sure everything goes smoothly."
"Okay, go ahead, be careful on the road." Xiao Fangting nodded and watched him get into the car and leave.
When Ye Haoxuan drove back to the Hung Hing stronghold, Qian Wendi had already returned from Macau and was resting on a bench in the warehouse, looking somewhat tired.
Upon seeing Ye Haoxuan enter, he immediately stood up and said, "Brother Xuan."
"You've worked hard, please have a seat." Ye Haoxuan gestured for him to sit down. "We owe you a lot for what happened in Macau. Gao Jin has officially submitted, so you can look out for each other in the gambling world from now on."
Qian Wendi's eyes lit up: "Really? That's great! I've always admired Brother Jin's gambling skills. I would be thrilled to be able to work with him in the future."
“We will need your continued attention to the regulation of gambling in Hong Kong Island and Macau,” Ye Haoxuan said. “You should rest for a couple of days. Once I’ve established myself in the police force, we can discuss the specific plans in detail.”
"No problem, Brother Xuan, I'm ready anytime!"
Not long after, Tony walked in, looking relaxed.
"Brother Xuan, it's all settled! Gao Jin said he knows Sang Biao and has arranged to meet him at Xing Le Nightclub at 7 pm tonight. Da Fei has also made arrangements, with the brothers lying in ambush around the nightclub in case Sang Biao tries anything funny."
Ye Haoxuan nodded, picked up the water glass on the table, and took a sip:
"Tell Dafei and Gao Jin to be careful. Since Sang Biao dared to cause trouble, he must have some backing. Don't fall into his trap. Also, tell Gao Jin to make sure that when you talk to him, he asks clearly whether Sang Biao has any other collusion with Ah Lok's remnants, and whether Ah Lok has any other hidden forces in Macau."
"Don't worry, Brother Xuan, I've explained everything to them," Tony said. "You're reporting for duty tomorrow, so get some rest tonight. We've got you covered here, nothing will go wrong."
Ye Haoxuan put down his water glass and looked out at the sunlight.
Tomorrow will be a new beginning in his life.
This minor incident in Haojiang was merely a small episode in his strategic plan.
He had a premonition that the situation in Hong Kong Island and Macao would become more complicated after his return to the police force, but he was already prepared.
......
At 7 p.m., the lights at the Xing Le Nightclub in Haojiang were dimmer than usual, the music in the lobby was very low, and the footsteps of the waiters could be faintly heard.
Outside the "Ronghua" private room on the innermost side of the second floor, two brothers wearing black jackets stood straight, their hands on the steel pipes at their waists, their eyes scanning the passersby warily—this was a sentry post specially arranged by Dafei to prevent Sang Biao from causing trouble with too many people.
Inside the private room, warm yellow light shone on the mahogany coffee table, reflecting the rising steam from the freshly brewed Pu'er tea.
Gao Jin sat in the main seat of the sofa, an unlit cigar between his fingers, his knuckles tinged with a pale blue. His expression was as calm as a deep pool of water, yet he exuded an imposing aura.
He nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping across the edge of the coffee table with a sharp, scrutinizing look.
Dafei stood beside him, arms crossed, the muscles in his arms stretching his black T-shirt taut. His eyes were sharp as an eagle's, staring intently at the door of the private room. His Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily—he had been holding back his anger for a long time, just waiting for Sang Biao to come and settle accounts.
"Brother Jin, is there any chance that Sang Biao might try something?" Da Fei lowered his voice. "I've had the brothers surround the private room completely. If he dares to make a move, I guarantee he won't leave alive."
Gao Jin gently shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips:
“Sang Biao is the kind of person who bullies the weak and fears the strong. He doesn’t have the guts to fight us head-on. He’s only here to test our strength. If he can get away with it, great; if not, he’ll back down.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than a series of hurried footsteps came from outside the private room, followed by a knock on the door.
"Brother Jin, Sang Biao is here," the brother at the door whispered.
"Let him in, but he can only bring two people." Gao Jin's tone was calm, yet carried an undeniable authority.
The moment the door to the private room was pushed open, a mixture of sweat and cheap perfume wafted in.
Sang Biao walked in with two burly henchmen. He still had that same menacing face, and the top two buttons of his floral shirt were undone, revealing the messy black hair on his chest. The thick gold chain around his neck swayed and jingled with each step.
His usually arrogant gaze was now filled with wariness and evasion. As he entered, he quickly scanned the environment of the private room. When he saw Da Fei next to Gao Jin, his pupils suddenly contracted and he paused for a moment. He had been in Macau for so long that he naturally recognized Da Fei and knew that he was a fierce and capable henchman under Ye Haoxuan, rumored to have a lot of blood on his hands.
"Gao Jin, you certainly know how to pick a spot." Sang Biao smiled, feigning composure, and walked straight to the sofa opposite Gao Jin, sitting down. Two of his men stood behind him, their hands in their pockets, clearly hiding weapons.
Da Fei took a step forward, his eyes icy: "Sang Biao, don't push your luck! Brother Jin told you to bring two people, what do you mean by having them hiding weapons? Trying to make a scene here?"
The two henchmen behind Sang Biao tensed up instantly, and were about to make a move when Sang Biao raised his hand to stop them.
"It's a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding." Sang Biao put on a fawning smile. "The brothers are just used to carrying something for self-defense, that's all."
