Chapter 71 Progress
Chapter 71 Progress
We humans are essentially creatures who wear masks, no matter what. Often, a person's inner feelings are completely different from what they show on the outside.
The same is true for the Maya.
'what to do?'
Just now, Maya did something she never imagined. She touched Morse's arm and saw his body twitch slightly, only then realizing what she had done.
'This isn't a girl, he's a boy.'
This wasn't the first time Maya had helped someone improve their control over magic, but it was the first time she had helped a boy.
Don't hesitate! You're just teaching him!
She realized that it would be very impolite to feel embarrassed now.
I just wanted to teach him, it's that simple!
"Junior brother, feel the flow of magical power. Let it become an extension of your intentions."
So she did as usual. Ignoring his initial reaction and her own feelings, she continued, gripping him tighter and getting closer.
She infused her magic into his body, guiding him as she had done with her friends.
"Focus your attention on the stone and feel the magic responding to your intentions."
Finally, he succeeded. Seeing the magic lines he created, she felt a clear sense of satisfaction, because she was able to teach others.
But this time, one thing is different.
'So close.'
Maya's smile nearly crumbled as she could feel his cold body temperature. Feeling extremely uncomfortable and becoming more aware of him, she took a step back.
"Very good, junior. You have begun to connect with the flow of magic. You have finally taken the first step."
Then, she took a small step back and began to observe him.
Why did I touch him like that?
Maya was a girl who had never had any relationship with the opposite sex. No, it should be said that she had never been close to a man.
If her friends were there, they would definitely say she's an idiot.
For Maya, from the moment she awakened as a child, her whole world was magic.
It wasn't because she initially loved magic, but because her family forced her down this path, ultimately leading her to develop herself in the world of magic rather than integrating into the social world of young couples.
Therefore, she doesn't know how to develop romantic relationships. Of course, she has friends, but none of them are men.
She also developed a habit of losing control when excited, and she was in this state most of the time.
All of these factors led to her current situation.
The junior she wanted to help helped her regain her motivation.
'He really works very hard.'
Watching him close his eyes from the side, she thought. His effort was obvious. Even now, she could clearly sense his discomfort at her touch, but he said nothing, focusing only on improving himself.
'Sure enough, no one taught him how to use magic.'
Thinking this, a wave of sadness washed over her. She felt that despite his hard work, he was being discriminated against because of his low ranking. This was something she couldn't accept.
Even though Maya is naturally naive, strangely enough, she can tell how others perceive each other.
That's why she could see the way others looked at him. Some gazes were full of contempt, while others were filled with belittling and insult.
But she didn't sense that atmosphere from Morse. Indeed, he was a rude and straightforward man, but he never interfered in other people's affairs, nor did he ever antagonize anyone without reason.
'Let me train him into an excellent hunter, and make them look at him with new eyes.'
Seeing that he was clearly trying to improve, she felt it was unfair to treat him this way, and a fire ignited in her heart.
The flame that fueled his progress.
However, for Morse, this was only the beginning of her suffering, because Maya would lose control when she got excited about something.
......
Over the next few hours, Maya led Morse through various exercises she had designed to refine his control over magic.
She demonstrated different techniques, showing him how to condense magic into threads, shape them into specific forms, and even redistribute it into the environment.
“For the next exercise,” Maya instructed in a firm voice, “I want you to gather your magic into a small ball and then gradually expand it. Focus on maintaining control throughout the process.”
Morse nodded, closed his eyes, and began to visualize magic as she had taught him. At first, his efforts were somewhat unsteady, and the magic orb appeared and disappeared intermittently.
“Focus, junior,” Maya advised. “Feel the energy of the magic and guide it intentionally.”
Under Maya's guidance, his control improved.
The mana orb stabilized, and he began to slowly expand it, like an ever-expanding bubble. He could feel the mana responding to his thoughts.
I'm starting to get the hang of it.
He has been able to manipulate his magic in a more precise way. Although he hasn't fully mastered it yet, he can finally feel the difference between his past methods and his current ones.
The magic he used previously was clearly in his meditative state of the [Moon] attribute, which originates from his attributes and initial intuition.
However, now he no longer simply uses his own characteristics, but does what every hunter can do: manipulate and utilize primal magic.
As training continued, Maya keenly observed his progress. She saw his moments of struggle and his moments of finding his rhythm. Her feedback was constructive; he absorbed every word and adjusted his technique accordingly.
“Your mana lines are becoming more and more refined,” Maya said with a hint of approval. “Keep practicing expansion exercises, and soon you will be able to precisely control even larger amounts of mana.”
Morse threw himself into the task, striving to improve rapidly. With each exercise he completed, he felt himself becoming more attuned to the flow of magic, and more adept at guiding its energy.
Maya showed him no mercy. She constantly pressured him, channeling her magic into him, and sometimes even made him spar with her.
Although Maya's surprise was evident when she saw his progress. "Junior, you're learning faster than I expected."
Morse was still tired, but there was a sense of accomplishment that transcended fatigue. "Thank you, senior. Your guidance has really helped me improve a lot."
This was his genuine gratitude, because without Maya, he would never have made such progress.
Maya's warm smile reflected her pride in his achievements. "You've been putting in the hard work yourself, junior. I just pointed you in the right direction."
Of course, that's true.
For the past five hours, Maya has been training with him without giving him any rest.
However, like everything in the world, everything comes to an end, and this training also came to an end.
A cacophony of noise began
Seeing the elemental chamber becoming increasingly crowded, Morse realized that if things continued this way, things would get very complicated.
He was able to stay here because of Maya's care, and also because the place was empty in the morning. In any case, even for Maya, it would be difficult to keep an unqualified student in front of so many people.
Therefore, he intended to tell Maya about it, but she beat him to it.
“It looks like our training will have to be paused,” Maya said, a hint of regret in her voice. She glanced around at the growing number of students in the room.
Morse nodded in agreement. "Yes, it's starting to get a bit crowded. I shouldn't stay any longer."
Maya's smile returned. "That's right. But don't worry, junior, we've made significant progress today."
Morse bowed his head, filled with gratitude. "Thank you, senior. I'm truly grateful for your guidance."
Maya's smile widened, her excitement overflowing. "You're welcome. But remember, we're not finished yet. We'll continue tomorrow."
Maya's smile widened, brimming with excitement. Suddenly, she took a step closer, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "You know what? Teaching you today was really fun. Seeing your progress and improvement really excited me! So, I hope you're ready to come again tomorrow. Same time, same place?"
Morse frowned slightly, looking somewhat surprised. "Tomorrow?"
Maya's excitement was contagious; she practically jumped for joy. "Of course! I can't wait to continue. I have a feeling you'll make even greater progress!"
Morse hesitated, clearly reluctant. "I'm not sure if this is necessary. I have class tomorrow."
Of course, this kind of help was good, but he was still somewhat uncomfortable with Maya always being around him. Although her teaching was indeed excellent and her guidance had helped him improve, it was clear that the more he had contact with her, the more complicated things might become.
However, Maya's smile was so infectious. "That's more like it! Get a good rest tonight, and get ready early for new training tomorrow. We still have a lot to learn!"
She seemed not to hear what she was saying, completely ignoring his reminder about tomorrow's class, and continued to push forward with their plans.
"Senior, didn't you hear me? I said I have class tomorrow."
"So what?"
"So, we don't have much time to train."
"So what? Junior, now that you've accepted my proposal, you can't run away from it, right?"
"..."
"Right?"
"..."
"Right?"
“Sigh…” Her enthusiasm seemed to have overcome his initial resistance. Morse sighed helplessly. “Alright, I’ll come.”
Maya's smile practically lit up the entire room. "Great! You won't regret it, I promise. Get some rest, junior. Tomorrow will be an even more exciting day of progress!"
After saying that, Morse stood up and left the Elemental Chamber.
However, even beneath his cold expression, there was still a hint of satisfaction.
That feeling of improving oneself...
