Chapter 13 Additional Audience
While Morse was unconscious, his surroundings began to change.
The mist that once concealed the demon's presence now seems to react to a strange power, swirling and emitting an eerie light.
The shadows grew darker and more elusive, as if they were under the command of an unknown force.
An eerie energy permeated the air, and the trees swayed in the unseen breeze. The ground beneath his feet pulsated as if it had come alive, and Morse's body had become one with the surrounding nature.
The once dark and ominous clearing now appeared exceptionally tranquil, bathed in the soft red moonlight emanating from the crimson moon mark above Morse's head. A mysterious aura seemed to envelop the area, casting an ethereal glow upon everything it touched.
However, as time passed, the fading shadows in the surrounding environment began to creep towards the boy lying on the ground. With each heartbeat, the pulsating breath changed.
The shadows then swirled and merged, weaving ancient runic patterns across Morse's unconscious body. Unseen energy surged within him, like a river of power flowing from the depths of his primal demonic nature.
Upon reaching the summit, the shadows and the crimson moon vanished, leaving only a peaceful and serene forest. But something had changed within him.
And so, Morse lay on the ground, blood still dripping from the wound on his chest...
......
A girl exclaimed in surprise at what was happening before her. "What happened here?"
Because it was the weekend, she had a mountain of homework, so she was studying alone in the library, trying her best to finish it.
However, while studying, she forgot the time and realized how late it was. She wanted to get back to her dormitory before curfew. She decided to take a shortcut and entered the forest.
But just then, she heard a sound echoing through the forest. It was a scream filled with agony...
With a scream, goosebumps rose all over her body, and she involuntarily took a few steps back in fear. Her light magic was telling her that her nemesis was there.
A series of screams and a sense of danger. She felt terrified; her body trembled.
However, she did not back down; her inner kindness told her that there were people there who needed help.
However, the moment she arrived there, the scene before her made her stop in her tracks... she froze on the spot.
"What on earth happened?" It was a creature she had never seen before.
In a vast field in the forest, a terrible scene unfolded before the girl's eyes.
“Dylan Miller?” she murmured as she tried to run away. After all, he was a man known for bullying the weak and fearing the strong.
However, what she saw made her want to vomit. The monster stabbed Dylan with its claws, and in an instant, its bulky body turned into an empty shell...
The same thing happened to two other people.
The more she witnessed, the more terrifying it became. She wanted to run away, but at that moment, the murderous intent emanating from the monster was enough to freeze her in place...
In the midst of this terrifying scene, she saw a pair of purple eyes gleaming in the midnight darkness.
“Morse?” Her heart clenched even tighter as she murmured his name… because she knew how vulnerable he was.
As the mist shifted, moonlight shone on the boy, revealing a crazed smile...
"He's smiling?" In his memory, he had never shown such an expression before.
The monster turned its gaze toward the source of the sound.
"No!" She wanted to help him, but her body wouldn't move. Deep down, she knew she could never truly help... after all, she was just a healer. Her lack of combat experience and her fear-filled mind left her helpless.
The monster launched an attack, attempting to pierce his chest as it had done to everyone else.
"Don't die..." the girl hoped he would be safe and sound.
But things didn't go as expected.
"Now it's just us left..."
This was the coldest voice she had ever heard since birth, and the words echoed in her mind.
"I will kill you, and your people too... I will kill all of you demons!"
At that very moment, something strange happened. First, a beam of light illuminated the surrounding environment, causing the monster to writhe in agony.
Then lightning entered the monster's body.
Finally, the crimson dagger stabbed at the demon again and again.
"Die! Die! Die!"
As voices filled with hatred and rage echoed, the dagger plunged into the monster's chest again and again...
Until the monster is completely dead.
As the monster exhaled its last breath from its twisted body, an eerie silence fell over the empty plains.
The girl remained standing there, her heart pounding, her mind struggling to process what had just happened before her eyes.
Before her lay the bodies of the thugs who had tormented Morse, lifeless corpses, their once imposing figures now reduced to mere shells.
Now only Morse remained standing in the arena. The timid and cowardly boy she once knew now displayed a fierce, decisive, and crazed expression. His once unremarkable purple eyes now gleamed with a mad light, sending a chill down her spine.
“What…what just happened?” she asked in a low voice, her voice trembling. She could hardly believe what she was witnessing; the quiet, weak boy had inexplicably become incredibly fierce, defeating the terrifying monster with superhuman strength.
As the red moonlight slowly faded, Morse's surroundings began to change again.
The swirling shadows and the eerie light that enveloped the entire scene gradually dissipated, leaving behind a calm that contrasted sharply with the chaos that had just taken place.
And now she was witnessing something ancient and powerful, something she couldn't comprehend. The runic patterns swirling around Morse's figure were unlike anything she had ever seen before, evoking a sinister and terrifying familiarity, intertwined with an unknown presence.
A gentle breeze rustled the leaves around them, and magical energy permeated the air.
As Morse's body landed on the ground, the girl cautiously approached him, unsure of what would happen.
The girl wanted to help him, but she was also afraid of what he had just done. She reached out a trembling hand, hesitated for a moment, and then placed it on his forehead.
To her surprise, his skin felt burning hot.
“He was also injured…” I immediately realized he had a fever.
The thought of helping him flashed through the girl's mind. As her magic flowed, her hands shone with a mixture of yellow and green light, activating her special abilities.
In the dim moonlight, the girl with shiny blonde hair and captivating blue eyes knelt before the boy to heal his wounds, which began to slowly heal.
Although the scars are still there, at least she has healed her wounds.
“I need to look for other wounds.” She immediately realized that Morse’s condition might be worse than she had thought, and knew that she needed to look for all other possible wounds.
The moment she lifted his clothes, the sight that greeted her took her breath away. His pale body looked frail and weak... covered in scars... burns, cuts, bruises... all signs of abuse.
"What exactly did you go through?" Tears welled up in her eyes.
Her hand stroked the unconscious boy's skin, searching for wounds that could be healed.
"Thankfully, there are no other wounds..." she breathed a sigh of relief. But she knew her skills were insufficient to heal Morse.
"I have to get him to the infirmary," she thought.
The girl carefully supported Morse's unconscious body as they walked back through the forest. She couldn't help but glance back at the lifeless corpses of the bullies and the vanished monsters; she was still trying to comprehend what was happening before her eyes.
As they reached the edge of the forest, the girl noticed a group of academy instructors and drill sergeants drawn by the commotion caused by the battle and charging toward them.
"Sylvie, what happened?"
"Please save him first."
Seeing that Morse was still alive, albeit unconscious, they breathed a sigh of relief and quickly arranged for medical staff to treat his wounds.
In the infirmary, Sylvie sat beside Morse's bed, her mind filled with questions. What had happened to him? How had he defeated that terrifying monster? And what was this strange power awakening within him?
The teachers were equally bewildered by what had happened. They had never heard of such a monster in the academy, nor had they expected anything like this to occur.
Subsequently, the college principal personally arrived to assess the situation. She asked Sylvie what had happened there, and the girl recounted everything in detail, but concealed what had happened to Morse.
A protective instinct was awakened within her, for reasons unknown...
