Chapter 9 Special Magic
Chapter 9 Special Magic
After finishing my meal, I felt refreshed. After leaving the cafeteria, I headed back to the training field.
Now I should train while using my traits and try to understand how to use my mana.
Mana control is one of the most important, and also the most difficult, skills for a hunter. This is because, in most cases, a hunter's mana awakens during their growth as a human, rather than being innate. It is a different kind of energy, like a person suddenly gaining an extra limb.
Therefore, it is difficult for people to master the use of any elemental magic. This alone shows how talented Irina is; she can easily manipulate fire magic even without thinking.
With that thought in mind, I re-entered the training ground and headed towards the combat room.
"I can't stay here too long," I thought, looking at the crowd already piled up in the combat room. "But I'll try to buy myself some time."
With that thought in mind, I entered the combat room.
Unlike training dummies, this place has many simulated mobile robots that you can fight to improve yourself and enjoy some alone time.
"Ding! Morse Scott. Hunter class. First year. Student ranking: 2450/2450."
As I entered, a robotic voice greeted me. This was the training room's artificial intelligence, which would adjust the difficulty of the combat room according to the needs.
Please select the difficulty level.
Hearing this, I pondered for a moment. "As things stand, with my current attributes alone, even challenging the first stage might be quite difficult. However, I should first assess myself."
"Adjust the difficulty to the second stage."
"Okay, I will adjust to the second stage."
The second phase means simply that the average value of all the robot's attributes will be 2.
"Difficulty adjusted, starting in three seconds."
"three"
"two"
"One"
With a 'ding' sound, the countdown ended.
The lights went out, and a group of five mobile robots appeared before me. I picked up my dagger, assumed a fighting stance, and prepared to fight.
"Hmph... Come on."
The robots charged forward at incredible speed, their movements synchronized and calculated. Their metallic limbs hummed and clanged as they approached me, their glowing eyes fixed on me.
I reacted swiftly, dodging their first wave of attacks thanks to my enhanced speed and reflexes. Although my body was weak, it didn't mean I was slow. With the agility honed through countless training sessions, I successfully evaded their attacks.
bang~
They attacked relentlessly, and when I could no longer dodge their attacks, I raised my dagger to parry the blow.
I aimed at the robot's power center while adjusting the position of my dagger.
I dodged the attacks with precision and fluidity, while simultaneously attempting to land a blow on him.
Clang~ Clang~
With each collision, I observe the robot's patterns and weaknesses, using them to predict its next move.
bang~
I tried to exploit the robot's weakness, but my dagger failed to pierce its barrier.
"It seems my pure power is currently insufficient to handle the second phase," I analyzed immediately. However, this did not discourage me. "In other words, if I cannot infuse my dagger with magic, I cannot damage it."
With that in mind, I tried to infuse the dagger with magic, just like before, imagining and commanding the power.
bang~
But this time, not only did he fail, he also took a solid punch to the face.
Immediately afterward, another punch hurtled towards me with lightning speed. Instinctively, I used the skill [Swiftness], and mana instantly flowed through my body, making me feel faster.
huh~
I instantly twisted my body, barely dodging the blow. The force of the punch created a gust of wind, ruffling my hair and reminding me of the imminent danger in the combat room.
"Hmph, that was close." I thought to myself as I watched the gust of wind. Robots are no joke.
"However, this is very interesting." Although I sensed the danger of the battle, I could also feel excitement; the stimulation and adrenaline caused subtle changes in me.
As the fierce battle continued, I found myself struggling to manifest my lunar magic. The robots attacked relentlessly, closing in on me with precision and speed. Their metallic limbs slammed into me, testing my reflexes and endurance.
bang bang
I focused my attention, trying to infuse magic into the dagger, but the process was more challenging than I had anticipated, as I was unfamiliar with the use and manifestation of magic.
Some might ask me, why try it in battle now? The answer is simple: the most effective way to learn is often through pain and danger.
Bang
I was hit several times by the robots; their attacks were connected to my body. The intense pain momentarily distracted me. However, this also became a driving force, strengthening my resolve to overcome the challenge before me.
With this resolve, I unleashed my inner strength. I felt the physical pain resonate with the strange energy within me, and my thoughts turned crimson. It felt strange, like my body was craving blood.
As I dodged another attack, I focused my thoughts on the dagger, imagining the crimson magic of the moonlight enveloping its blade.
Bang
Finally, with unwavering determination, my magic manifested, coating the dagger with a soft red glow. Its power wasn't as great as I'd hoped, only enough to damage the robot's metallic surface, but it was still progress.
"Daggers are not suitable for my magic." In the game, not every weapon is suitable for every type of magic.
Immediately following, I launched a series of swift and precise attacks, targeting the robots' vulnerable joints and weak points. Each strike hit its mark, leaving indentations on their metal frames with the Moonlight Dagger. While this wasn't enough to incapacitate them, it did weaken their movements and disrupt their attacks.
Dangdang
The battle intensified as I dodged attacks while launching my own carefully planned strikes. The robots, hampered by the Moonlight Dagger, became more unpredictable, allowing me to further exploit their weaknesses. I danced among them like a nimble shadow, my movements precise and decisive.
bang bang
As time passed, my control over my magic improved, and the moon's magic flowed more smoothly through my body. My once weak abilities also grew stronger, allowing me to inflict more substantial damage on the robots. Strangely, the more I attacked with this dagger infused with crimson energy, the more I felt my pain lessen, as if I were being healed.
This caused the injected mana to weaken every second, resulting in me being attacked again. Ultimately, it was a vicious cycle of suffering.
shhhhhh
With a few final blows, I ended the battle; the robot's missing body lay on the ground...
"Ding! Second phase of training is over. New record: 15 minutes and 37 seconds."
"Huh...huh..."
The combat room fell silent. I caught my breath, feeling the weight of exhaustion weighing on me. The red light around the dagger slowly faded, and although the pain lingered, I felt a sense of accomplishment.
I know my control over my magic still needs improvement. The energy the Crimson Moon bestows upon me both helps and harms me. It makes my attacks stronger, but it also drains my energy more rapidly, causing me pain. It's a delicate balance I need to master, but at the same time, I can't help but wonder why the light is crimson.
My gut feeling tells me that this characteristic will have many variations and it could become very complex... I need to understand it first.
I took a deep breath and stood up from the ground. Although my body ached, my goal remained steadfast.
"Would you like to try again? You have two chances left today."
Because the academy is full of students, there is a great demand for combat rooms in the ordinary training grounds, so the academy needs to adjust these rules.
Upon hearing the voice of the artificial intelligence, I stood up as I spoke.
"Yes, adjust the difficulty to the second stage again."
"Okay, difficulty adjusted. Starting in three seconds."
The countdown begins, and as the lights dim, the robots come to life, their mechanical forms moving with precision once again.
And so I continued training until I completed my attempt...
