Chapter 56 Departure
Chapter 56 Departure
On the third day after the supplies were brought back, Zhao Chen decided to leave.
Breaking through to the mid-stage of the Nascent Soul realm requires an enormous amount of energy. Staying cooped up in the camp every day, melting ores and carving armor plates, wouldn't lead to a breakthrough even in a hundred years. Now that the female angel's development is on track, it's time for him to go out and seek opportunities.
He went and told Keisha about it.
After listening, Keisha remained silent for a while, then said, "Come to my cave tonight, I have something to say."
Zhao Chen looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Keisha didn't explain, and turned away.
---
As night deepened, most of the campfires had died down. The female angels on watch patrolled back and forth in the distance, their footsteps making a soft sound.
Only inside Keisha's cave was there a faint light.
Zhao Chen lifted the animal-skin curtain at the entrance of Keisha's cave and went inside. Keisha was sitting upright on the stone bed, her armor removed, wearing only a close-fitting soft armor, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. Hearing the movement, she raised her head but didn't speak, her heart pounding. Her fingers were still unconsciously gripping the edge of the animal skin beneath her.
Zhao Chen walked over and stood in front of her.
"I don't even know how long I'll be gone."
"Um."
"Maybe a year, maybe longer."
Keisha lowered her eyes, her eyelashes casting a small shadow in the dim light. Her breathing was a little faster than usual, and her chest heaved more rapidly than usual.
Zhao Chen reached out and pinched Keisha's chin, lifting her face up. He stared intently into her eyes.
"Look at me."
Keisha was forced to meet Zhao Chen's gaze, her golden pupils slightly unfocused, her lips pressed even tighter. She was unaccustomed to this feeling of being controlled—she was the leader of the rebel army, the soul of this uprising, and she had always been the one giving orders.
But at this moment, Zhao Chen's fingers were gripping her chin, the force not strong, but irresistible.
"Do you know why I'm here tonight?"
"How...how would I know..."
Keisha's voice was somewhat muffled, her eyelashes trembling incessantly, "It's...it's saying goodbye to me..."
It wasn't just goodbye. Zhao Chen lowered his head and whispered in her ear, "You're my woman. Before I leave, I need to do what I need to do."
Keisha's breath hitched.
She wanted to say something more, her lips moved but no sound came out. Zhao Chen's fingers had already slid from her chin to her neck, his fingertips brushing against her skin. She could feel that the temperature of Zhao Chen's fingertips was very hot, like a stone that had been heated by the sun.
"you--"
Zhao Chen didn't let her finish speaking before he lowered his head and covered her mouth with his.
Keisha's hands instantly gripped his collar, her knuckles turning white. Zhao Chen's lips pressed against hers, with undeniable force. Her lips were soft, her whole body trembled slightly, and her teeth were clenched tightly.
Zhao Chen pinched her chin and gently turned it. The moment she opened her mouth in pain, he took advantage of her vulnerability and entered her.
Keisha groaned and shrank back, her back almost hitting the stone wall.
Zhao Chen's other hand was already on her waist, and he could feel her muscles were taut through the soft armor. Zhao Chen's palm slid up from her waist and stopped on the clasp of her soft armor.
Keisha suddenly grabbed his wrist with a strong grip.
Zhao Chen stopped and looked at her.
Keisha was breathing heavily, her lips were slightly swollen from Zhao Chen's kisses, and her eyes were red. She stared at Zhao Chen with a complex expression—resistance, nervousness, and something else she herself couldn't quite explain.
"You...do you really have to do it today?"
"Um."
Keisha bit her lower lip and remained silent, her grip on Zhao Chen's wrist slowly weakening.
Zhao Chen roughly unfastened her soft armor clasps, one, then two. Keisha closed her eyes resignedly, her eyelashes trembling violently, her breathing rapid and shallow. Soon, a hot and voluptuous body was revealed before Zhao Chen. Keisha shuddered.
"Don't be nervous," Zhao Chen whispered in her ear.
"I'm not nervous at all," Keisha said, her voice trembling.
"Relax, surrender yourself to me..."
In this warm, spring-like cave, on this spacious bed, Keisha underwent the most important transformation of her life.
From initial resistance and shyness to later confusion.
---
It took Keisha a long time to recover.
She leaned against Zhao Chen's chest, her back pressed against his, and neither of them spoke. Occasionally, the footsteps of the Night Watch angels could be heard outside the cave, distant, as if from another world.
Keisha's fingers unconsciously drew circles on his chest. After a while, she suddenly stopped and spoke.
"I won't ask about your relationship with He Xi." "But don't even think about making a move on Liang Bing."
Zhao Chen looked down at her.
Keisha didn't look up, her voice calm: "Liang Bing is my sister. If you dare touch her, don't blame me for turning against you."
Zhao Chen paused for a second, then said, "Okay."
Keisha nodded and closed her eyes again.
After a short while, her breathing became even, as if she had fallen asleep. Zhao Chen's hand was still on her waist, unmoved.
---
As dawn approached, Keisha groggily opened her eyes, feeling as if her whole body was falling apart. Her waist and legs, in particular, were so sore and weak that she couldn't muster any strength.
She shifted slightly, her brow furrowing slightly.
Last night's blush-inducing and heart-pounding scenes flooded my mind like a tidal wave.
"woke up?"
The blanket was gently lifted, revealing Zhao Chen's handsome face.
"Zhao... Zhao Chen..." Before she could finish speaking, Zhao Chen grabbed her chin and called her husband. Keisha scolded, "What are you doing?"
Should we call or not?
"Husband... my husband..."
"Does it still hurt, sweetie?"
Zhao Chen reached out and gently brushed away the stray hairs on her forehead with his slender fingers, a gesture so tender it made one's heart flutter.
"No...it doesn't hurt anymore...it's just...a little sore..."
Keisha blushed and dared not look into his eyes.
Struggling to sit up, she began to dress. Her movements were much slower than usual, but unhurried. She put on her soft armor piece by piece, fastening the buckles, and finally gathered all her long hair behind her shoulders.
When Keisha finished putting on her armor, stood up, walked to the cave entrance, and lifted the animal skin curtain...
She suddenly stopped, without turning around.
"Remember to come back soon."
Then he fled as if he were running away.
Zhao Chen lay on the stone bed, his eyes open, staring at the top of the cave.
---
After daybreak, Zhao Chen went to find He Xi again.
He Xi was adjusting communication equipment in the cave. When he heard that he was leaving, his fingers suddenly paused for a moment, and then he continued to tighten the screws.
"How long will it take?"
"I don't know either."
"oh."
Zhao Chen stood beside her, watching her work.
Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed her chin, turning her face towards him. He Xi didn't dodge or push him away; she just let him hold her chin, staring at him expressionlessly.
Zhao Chen lowered his head and kissed her.
He Xi didn't close her eyes, nor did she respond. She just stared at him with her eyes open and her teeth clenched, waiting for him to kiss her.
Zhao Chen tightened his grip on her chin slightly, and as soon as He Xi's jaw loosened, he took advantage of the opening.
He Xi's body stiffened abruptly, and the screwdriver fell onto the countertop with a crisp sound. Her hand was still gripping the edge of the countertop tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force.
Zhao Chen kissed her for a long time before letting go.
He Xi was breathing heavily, her lips slightly red from being kissed. She lowered her head, picked up the screwdriver, and pretended to continue working, her hands still trembling a little.
"Don't touch me," she said, her voice much lower than usual.
Zhao Chen smiled, then turned and left.
After he left, He Xi sat there, screwdriver in hand, motionless for a long time. She touched her lips, took a deep breath, and buried herself in her work.
---
Liang Bing was wiping her sword outside the camp.
When Zhao Chen walked over, she stopped holding the strip of cloth in her hand, looked up and asked.
"I heard you're leaving?"
"Um."
"how long?"
"I don't know either."
Liang Bing sheathed her sword, stood up, and looked at him.
"What about my sister?"
"Your sister knows."
Liang Bing paused for a moment, opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end only said, "Then come back soon."
Zhao Chen nodded and turned to leave.
He took a few steps, stopped, and looked back.
Liang Bing remained standing there, clutching the sword sheath in her hand, her expression somewhat bewildered.
Zhao Chen glanced at her for two seconds, then turned around and continued walking.
Liang Bing watched Zhao Chen's figure slowly disappear around the corner, then looked down at the sword in her hand and suddenly slammed it into the ground.
"That bastard," she muttered under her breath.
---
Zhao Chen left early the next morning.
The golden crow's escape light was almost invisible in the morning light. Keisha stood at the edge of the camp, looking up as the golden light gradually disappeared into the horizon.
He Xi came out of the cave and stood beside her.
"He's gone?" He Xi asked.
"I'm gone."
He Xi didn't say anything.
Liang Bing ran up from behind, glanced at the sky, but saw nothing.
"Is my brother-in-law really gone?"
Keisha did not answer.
Liang Bing stood to the side and looked up at the sky for a long time.
"He will definitely come back," He Xi suddenly said.
Keisha glanced at her, said nothing, and turned to walk back.
"Training troops."
---
Heavenly City Star, Holy Light Tower.
Sumari stood below the prince, his expression not very pleasant.
"My lord, the matter of Warehouse No. 3 in the Northern Territory has not yet been investigated, but that guy who could freeze people has suddenly disappeared. According to the intelligence network in the Northern Territory, there has been no trace of him in the past month."
Hua Ye leaned back on the throne, holding a wine glass: "Disappeared?"
"Yes. Keisha is still active, but that guy is gone."
Hua Ye took a sip of his drink and narrowed his eyes: "Where did it go?"
Sumari shook his head: "Can't find it."
Hua Ye chuckled: "Ignore them. As long as Keisha and her gang of rats are still around, that's enough. Hold the outpost and wait for them to come and die."
Sumari nodded: "Yes."
