Chapter 2 Why is Ling'er so stupid?
Chapter 2 Why is Ling'er so stupid?
Tao Ling'er, her mother Han Yue'e, and Qi Yuxuan walked along the mountain path.
This path winds and twists, hidden among layers of mountains.
The sunlight filtered through the treetops, casting dappled patterns on the ground and adding a touch of tranquility and peace to the tense journey.
They hoped that this journey would allow them to temporarily escape the pursuit of various sects and find a safe haven.
However, peace is always fleeting.
As they passed through a dense bamboo forest, a barely perceptible murderous aura suddenly filled the air.
Qi Yuxuan keenly sensed the subtle changes in the surrounding environment.
His brows were furrowed, and his sharp gaze swept across his surroundings.
"Ling'er, Aunt Han, we might be in trouble."
He lowered his voice, his tone filled with vigilance.
Upon hearing this, Ling'er and Han Yue'e immediately stopped and looked around.
Han Yue'e's expression changed slightly. She knew the methods of the various sects well, and once discovered, it would be difficult to escape easily.
She held Ling'er's hand tightly, conveying strength and comfort.
Just then, the surrounding trees seemed to come alive.
One after another, dark figures approached silently from different directions, quickly closing in.
The leader announced in a cold voice:
"Han Yue'e, hand over the 'Tao Family Mystic Techniques,' and I'll spare your lives!"
The voice was cold and authoritative, clearly belonging to a master.
Qi Yuxuan quickly shielded Tao Ling'er and Han Yue'e behind him, calmly analyzing the current situation.
He knew that a direct confrontation was not the best strategy; he had to outsmart the enemy.
"Gentlemen, we mean no harm; we simply want to find a peaceful place to live. We do not wish to cause any further trouble unless absolutely necessary."
His words were slow but firm, an attempt to ease the tense atmosphere.
However, the other side clearly had no intention of letting the matter rest, and the atmosphere became increasingly tense.
At this critical moment, Qi Yuxuan suddenly remembered an emergency plan he had read about in an ancient book.
Based on his understanding of the natural environment, he quickly devised a plan.
"Ling'er, Aunt Han, stay close to me."
Qi Yuxuan gave the order in a low voice, and then moved quickly, using the terrain to his advantage, leading the two towards the mountain stream.
The mountain stream is swift and the rocks are jagged, making it an excellent hiding place.
They cleverly used the rocks as cover to evade the pursuers' sight.
Meanwhile, Qi Yuxuan quickly set up a series of simple traps using the leaves and dry grass he collected along the way.
The pursuers followed closely behind, but due to their unfamiliarity with the terrain, they were repeatedly caught off guard, greatly slowing down their speed.
At this moment, Qi Yuxuan seized the opportunity and launched a sudden attack from his hiding place.
They launched a swift counterattack against the pursuing troops, catching the enemy off guard.
After a fierce battle, despite Qi Yuxuan's exceptional skills, he still appeared outnumbered and outmatched when facing seasoned veterans.
At the critical moment, Qi Yuxuan used the natural barriers in the environment to create a small landslide.
The loud noise and falling rocks temporarily halted the pursuers' advance, buying them precious time to escape.
Taking advantage of the chaos, the three continued deeper into the mountain stream and eventually shook off their pursuers.
As night fell, they found a relatively safe cave to rest in.
They looked at each other, exhausted but with an indomitable and persistent spirit shining in their eyes.
After resting for a while, the three of them picked some wild fruits to fill their stomachs.
Han Yue'e said worriedly:
"Yuxuan, thank you for your company and protection these past two days. We don't want to drag you down. You're so young and have such a bright future ahead of you. Why don't we say goodbye here today and go find your family?"
Qi Yuxuan's smile froze slightly.
“Aunt Han, please don’t say that. It just so happened that I ran into you. As a man, I just wanted to protect you. If I saw this and did nothing, I would feel terrible.”
Han Yue'e said "but" and then didn't want to say anything more.
Ling'er picked up the conversation and said:
“Brother Xuan, you can’t not find your family. Your family will worry about you. Your mother and I can’t be a burden to you.”
"Why don't you go back to your family first, and come play with me after Mom and I have settled in? Okay?"
"fool",
The boy's face was filled with an innocent smile as he playfully pinched Ling'er's little nose.
"Okay, Brother Xuan, you go first. When you grow up, I'll come find you and marry you. That way, we'll never be apart again, okay?"
Ling'er blinked and said.
"Ling'er, you silly little thing, by the time you grow up, you might already be married before I even get to marry you, how embarrassing."
The boy's fox-like eyes narrowed as he smiled, and he chuckled softly.
Just then, they suddenly heard someone shout from ahead: "They're over there!"
"Oh no, they've spotted us! We have to run!" Qi Yuxuan said quickly to the mother and daughter, and then hurriedly fled.
"Come with me."
Qi Yuxuan said in a low voice, and then quickly led the mother and daughter into a hidden cave.
He discovered this cave during his childhood explorations; its location is extremely secluded, making it very difficult for outsiders to detect.
Inside the cave, utilize your familiarity with the terrain.
They set up simple traps, enough to slow down the pursuers.
They hid for a long time, and those who came to chase them gradually left because they couldn't find them.
Seeing that the children were hungry, Han Yue'e told them to take shelter from the rain in Shandong while she went out to find food.
Suddenly, the sky darkened, with thick clouds gathering, and soon a torrential downpour began.
On a mountain path, Han Yue'e hurriedly searched for a place to take shelter from the rain.
The two children hid in the cave, where the rain was getting heavier and was flowing into the cave from higher ground.
Tao Ling'er smiled and patted her hair, which was damp from the raindrops dripping from the cave ceiling:
"Yes, it's all thanks to you for discovering this cave."
The cave wasn't large, but it was big enough for two or three people to take shelter from the rain.
The cave was a bit damp, but still warm.
The two sat on a dry rock, listening to the pattering rain outside, and felt a sense of peace in their hearts.
"Let's play a game!"
Ling'er suggested, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Okay, what do you want to play?"
Qi Yuxuan asked curiously.
How about we try guessing Tang poems?
Ling'er said.
"Okay, I'll go first."
Qi Yuxuan thought for a moment, then recited a poem.
"Spring slumber is so sweet, I don't even notice the dawn, everywhere I hear birds singing. Last night came the sound of wind and rain, I wonder how many flowers have fallen."
Ling'er blinked, thought for a moment, and then smiled:
"Who wrote this poem and what is it?"
"Ling'er is so stupid!"
This is the poem "Spring Dawn" by the poet Meng Haoran. Qi Yuxuan shook his head.
Despite the wind and rain outside, the cave was warm and peaceful.
The two children continued to find fun things to do while they were sheltering from the rain.
"This cave seems pretty big, let's sing!" Qi Yuxuan said excitedly.
"No, no, I can't sing. Although Daddy and Mommy sing very well, I sing terribly!"
Ling'er said.
"Then why don't you try singing it?" Qi Yuxuan said.
Ling'er strained her voice and sang a few lines of a nursery rhyme, which was indeed really hard to hear.
Qi Yuxuan was amused.
Ling'er blushed and said, "You're still laughing."
After a while, the two children started finding many more stones in the cave.
They were thrilled every time they found a strangely shaped stone, as if they had truly discovered a treasure.
"How about we paint on these stones?"
"Great idea! But we don't have any paint."
Hearing this, Qi Yuxuan smiled and said:
"Silly boy, I have one."
Qi Yuxuan said he has loved drawing since he was a child, and he often brings his fans with him when he goes on long trips.
He took out some colored powder from his backpack and began to paint on the oddly shaped stones.
Qi Yuxuan drew a large tiger, which was very lifelike.
Ling'er, on the other hand, couldn't draw, and her drawings were a mess.
"Ling'er is so stupid, she can't even draw!"
"Wow, how could I be so stupid? I can't do anything!"
Qi Yuxuan quickly comforted Ling'er.
Ling'er said that she was not smart since she was a child and could not do anything.
Then, her parents named her Ling'er, hoping that she would be clever and quick-witted in the future.
Just as Qi Yuxuan was comforting Ling'er to stop crying, a furry little thing suddenly fell off a leaf.
It landed on her shoulder.
Ling'er turned pale with fright.
"what!"
Ling'er screamed and quickly took a few steps back.
