Chapter 273 The Third Person's Gaze
Chapter 273 The Third Person's Gaze
Zhou Ziyin's notebooks all fell to the ground. She stared blankly at the playground outside the window, as if frozen in time.
On the playground, Guo Qi held flowers, a love letter, and a gift. Su Qing stood in front of him, head bowed, hesitating.
"Hey, classmate, you dropped your book!" A voice that came from afar pulled her back to reality.
She suddenly looked down and realized that the notebooks she had been holding were scattered all over the floor.
The kind girl who had called her for so long was bending down to help her pick up her homework from the ground.
"Are you the class representative? How come you're carrying all the class's homework by yourself without asking a classmate for help?" The girl smiled and handed her a stack of the homework she had picked up.
"Uh, thank you." Zhou Ziyin quickly thanked the girl, then took the homework and watched her classmate walk away.
She sighed helplessly, then looked out the window again; they were no longer there.
Guo Qi and Su Qing were no longer there.
It was as if what she had just seen was an illusion.
But she knew it was true; just now, Guo Qi had confessed his feelings to Su Qing…
Her dejected expression was impossible to hide. Head bowed, she sullenly returned to the classroom, placed all the homework on the teacher's desk, and said listlessly, "Group leaders, please distribute the homework..."
"What's wrong with you? You seem so listless today," her deskmate asked, noticing her slumped over her desk and asleep as soon as she returned.
Zhou Ziyin did not answer. She buried her head in her arms and on the desk, letting her tears well up in her eyes.
She didn't want anyone to know she was sad, so she pretended to be tired and lay down on the table to sleep.
Sure enough, her deskmate saw that she didn't say anything and stopped talking to her, instead going off to play around with other classmates.
Zhou Ziyin felt even more wronged at this moment. Only Su Qing could perceive every slight change in her emotions.
Only Su Qing could tell whether she was happy or sad; no matter how well she pretended, she couldn't escape Su Qing's eyes.
She's such a thoughtful and gentle person, how could anyone not like her?
Yes, it's normal for people to like her; she deserves to be liked.
Zhou Ziyin was struggling internally, trying hard to convince herself.
Su Qing will eventually fall in love with a boy, and she will eventually experience this sense of loss.
Don't be so pathetic; you should be happy for your good friend.
Zhou Ziyin tried to convince herself, but when she opened her mouth to smile, she couldn't manage a smile; it looked worse than crying.
Suddenly, familiar footsteps approached; it was Su Qing returning to the classroom.
Zhou Ziyin pricked up her ears, unsure of what she was expecting, but desperately hoping that she would notice her unhappiness.
She hoped Su Qing could tell her the outcome of that confession.
"Ayin, what's wrong?" A familiar voice, a gentle hand, pressed against the back of her head. "Why are you unhappy?"
Zhou Ziyin quickly pretended to yawn and wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes: "No, I was just called on by the teacher to do some work and I'm tired."
Su Qing's expression stiffened, as if she had some concerns.
"Where have you been? Why are you only just getting back to the classroom?" Pretending to be nonchalant, Zhou Ziyin couldn't help but pry.
"Uh," Su Qing stammered, "It's nothing, I just went to buy some things..."
Why did you lie to me? Zhou Ziyin frowned, not knowing why she suddenly had the audacity to expose him: "What did you buy? Where is it?"
"No, I couldn't buy any..."
"What did you want to buy but couldn't find?"
"I wanted to buy some food, but it was sold out..."
"What do you want to eat?"
"It's just a snack, it's not important..."
"What snacks have sold out? Tell me, let me see what's so delicious." He couldn't control his tone and suddenly became sarcastic.
"Ayin, what are you doing!" Su Qing said softly in disbelief, "Why do you seem to hate me..."
Su Qing was so aggrieved she felt like she was about to break.
Zhou Ziyin also regretted it; she hadn't controlled herself and her attitude had been too offensive.
"I..." I didn't know how to explain. Should I say that I just saw Guo Qi exchanging flowers and love letters with you on the playground, which was too ambiguous, and that I was unhappy?
Zhou Ziyin was speechless, unsure of what to say.
The two of them froze.
Su Qing returned to her seat with red eyes.
Today, the two of them did not exchange another word.
Zhou Ziyin didn't know what she was being stubborn about at this moment, why she wouldn't back down, even though it was just a simple apology...
At the time, she had no idea that she would later regret it so much.
