The End Times as a Song

Chapter 401 Worry

Chapter 401 Worry

Ling Shu turned around and couldn't help but tease Mu Qingqing: "What's wrong? Are you angry with your mother?"

"Qingqing wants to find her father, Mother is bullying Qingqing...!" Mu Qingqing pouted, glared angrily at Ling Shu, and ran into the house to find Mu Yu in the front yard.

Upon reaching the front yard, Mu Qingqing was startled. Mu Yu lay motionless amidst the braised fish scattered on the ground. She was momentarily stunned before she regained her composure and cried out, "Father…!" She rushed over, lifted Mu Yu up, and repeatedly called out, "Father, wake up! Wake up…! Mother…!"

A cry of "Mother!" caught Ling Shu's attention: "Oh no...!" Ling Shu ran out of the small wooden house. Seeing Mu Yu lying unconscious on the ground, his face pale, she was shocked. Without thinking, she rushed over and helped Mu Yu up, who was like a rag doll: "A-Yu, what happened? A-Yu...?"

Mu Yu's face was deathly pale, and he remained motionless and unresponsive. Ling Shu panicked and immediately cast a spell to infuse Mu Yu with spiritual energy. Mu Yu's mortal body simply could not withstand Ling Shu's spiritual energy. As a result, Mu Yu coughed up blood.

Mu Qingqing looked at Ling Shu in surprise. This was the first time she had seen Ling Shu's magic and her father's sick appearance. Although she was afraid, she dared not make a sound or ask any more questions.

"Ah Yu...! How could this happen...?" Ling Shu was panicked and lost her mind. Her eyes went blank and her expression became dazed.

Mu Qingqing shook Ling Shu's arm: "Mother, is Father too tired? Should we carry Father inside to rest for a while?"

The innocent voice of eight-year-old Mu Qingqing awakened the dazed Ling Shu. Ling Shu turned her head blankly to look at Mu Qingqing beside her, and suddenly found her motivation: "Yes...! Qingqing is right. Maybe your father fainted because he was too tired from cooking...! Let's carry him inside and let him rest for a while, maybe he'll be alright...!"

"Mmm... Mother, I'll help you...!" Mu Qingqing nodded.

Ling Shu hoisted Mu Yu onto her back, struggling to lift her up, while Mu Qingqing helped support her from behind. The mother and daughter laboriously carried Mu Yu into the cabin and hurriedly placed her on the bed.

Mu Qingqing collapsed to the ground, panting. Ling Shu's gaze remained fixed on Mu Yu; her heart was pounding with worry for Sang Zi. She disregarded everyone else and busied herself helping Mu Yu tidy his clothes. She sat down beside him, her face showing distress. She took Mu Yu's hand and rubbed it, trying to warm him up.

Mu Qingqing noticed Ling Shu's worry. She hadn't rested for long before she stood up. She glanced at Mu Yu, whose face was pale on the bed, stroked Ling Shu's hair, and comforted her, "Mother...!"

Before Mu Qingqing could say anything, Ling Shu turned around and interrupted her: "Shh...! Qingqing, be good...! Daddy's asleep, don't wake him...! Daddy will wake up soon, and he'll play with Qingqing when he wakes up...!"

Ling Shu's eyes were brimming with tears, and her face was terribly haggard. She kept her voice very low, afraid of waking Mu Yu. This situation truly frightened Mu Qingqing, who was at a loss for words. Perhaps saying nothing was the greatest comfort for Ling Shu. Faced with this scene, she dared not utter another sound. She nodded silently and turned to walk out of the house.
