Chapter 136 This man is probably out of his mind.
"What exactly do you want?" Qin Reng asked through gritted teeth. Even though he couldn't see clearly in the darkness, he could sense a kind of restless ferocity in those sharp eyes.
"I'm here to save you, my dear little couple." Mo Qingxiang seemed to be having a good time, dragging out her words with a deliberately teasing tone, "If I hadn't come, you two would probably have become the next headline news, like 'The domineering couple's love story in troubled times' or something like that.
Yu Yuetong was shocked and exclaimed, "Shut up! Who has an unresolved marital affair with him? This isn't the time to make up news!"
Qin Reng's voice was even colder, "She's right, this has nothing to do with you."
"What a pity, she really needs me." Mo Qingcheng retorted slowly, his voice slightly drowned out by the noise outside, yet it seemed he deliberately lingered on every syllable, making sure every sound reached the listener's ears. "Your abilities can't withstand a greater unexpected crisis. And let me add one more thing, I've signed an insurance policy for your lives—"
Before the words were finished, a sharp, tearing sound, like metal ripping, suddenly came from one side of the carriage. No one could see it in the darkness, but the vibration from the sound made the entire carriage tremble.
Qin Reng reacted quickly, pulling Yu Yuetong to move to a different position. However, just as they took a step, Mo Qingcheng's arm precisely grabbed Yu Yuetong's other arm with a force as strong as if he were pulling up a radish.
"What are you doing?" Qin Reng almost shouted, reaching out to "snatch" her back.
"Don't move around, or she'll really be trapped in a suffocating can." Mo Qingcheng reminded her with a smile, but he said it in a nonchalant tone, even though it was a warning.
Amidst the chaos, one could hear him speaking as if directing some invisible game of chess: "Xiao Yuetong, trust me this once, choose the left side."
"Choose the left side?" Yu Yuetong was startled and paused for a few seconds, her tone even carrying a hint of doubt, "How do you know what's on our left?"
"Don't ask, that's how you save your life." Mo Qingcheng's voice carried an indescribable certainty. "Three seconds countdown, three, two—"
"Wait! You bastard!—"
Qin Reng completely lost his composure, almost thinking he was going crazy. He increased the pressure on his hand several times over in an attempt to regain the initiative, but Mo Qingcheng released his hand the next second and retreated to the back.
A scream suddenly rang out. Without thinking, Yu Yuetong instinctively grabbed Qin Reng and rushed towards the left end of the carriage—
A sudden gust of cold wind blew through the air, carrying with it the smell of rotten gasoline.
Qin Reng grasped her hand, and just as they stepped onto stable ground, a deafening explosion erupted behind them.
Something seemed to be rapidly approaching, and their figures were eerily and blindingly illuminated by a ring of firelight!
"It...it was a success?" Yu Yuetong couldn't help but turn her head, but she only had time to catch a glimpse of Mo Qingcheng's smiling face and his slowly receding figure.
The atmosphere froze for a moment. The flames from the explosion behind them reflected on Qin Reng and Yu Yuetong's faces, the harrowing moments still vivid in their minds. Yu Yuetong opened her mouth, but her throat was so dry that she couldn't utter a single word.
"Hey, I'm telling you," Qin Reng suddenly spoke, his tone inexplicably unfriendly, "you just risked your life to listen to that bastard?!"
"What do you mean by risking your life?" Yu Yuetong retorted reflexively, but her tone was guilty. "I called it improvising, okay!"
Qin Reng sneered upon hearing this, looking at the stubborn woman before him, a complex mix of emotions welling up inside him. He couldn't bear to scold her, yet he couldn't swallow his anger. He took a deep breath, his fingers unconsciously squeezing her palm, and said coldly, "Yu Yuetong, if you ever follow that madman's orders again, see how I deal with you."
"Hey, don't you know anything about gratitude? If it weren't for Mo Qingcheng—"
"Mo Qingcheng?" Qin Reng sneered, as if he had heard the biggest joke in the world. "You think he saved us without any other purpose? Can't you see that this guy has 'bad' written on the back of his head?"
"But--"
"No buts!" He glared at her, directly targeting her stubborn little face, his tone suddenly becoming harsher: "If you keep getting closer to him, you won't need anyone else to set you up, you'll be the one to get yourself killed, believe it or not?"
Yu Yuetong was taken aback by his retort and couldn't immediately retort. Well, although Qin Reng was usually quicker to talk back than she was, what he said this time wasn't entirely unreasonable. Mo Qingcheng was indeed a dangerous person, and even if she trusted him this once, she couldn't guarantee that there weren't any other ulterior motives behind this rescue.
"Alright, let's go." Qin Reng was too lazy to waste any more words with her, knowing full well that this woman was not one to back down. He tightened his grip on her wrist, intending to drag her away. Suddenly, a crisp "click" sounded underfoot, and the two of them stopped simultaneously.
Looking down, he saw a gruesome scene of shattered steel bars and chipped parts scattered across the ground. Qin Reng's foot was resting on one of the wrecks, a piece of metal so shiny it could be pieced together to form the logo of Mo Qingcheng's car. "Damn it, he even dared to blow up the car body, this is too much of a show," Qin Reng cursed through gritted teeth, his impatience deepening.
"What?" Yu Yuetong perked up at this moment, raising an eyebrow at Qin Reng, her voice trailing off with a hint of amusement. "You just said there was something wrong with me trusting him. What, are you jealous?"
Qin Reng turned and glared at her, but didn't intend to say anything. Jealous? He wouldn't be jealous of that at all. No matter how much Mo Qingcheng schemed, he would only ever be a fleeting nobody. But what about someone else? That little drama queen who was always flirting with other people was what really infuriated him.
“I advise you to shut up,” he sneered, throwing out a reply that left everyone stunned, “If you say another word, I’ll chase after you tonight and let you experience what it’s like to be a real domineering CEO.”
"You?" Yu Yuetong's eyes widened, her face clearly saying, "This man must be out of his mind." The next second, Qin Reng simply leaned down slightly, getting close enough that his breath almost touched her earlobe.
“It’s not necessarily tonight,” he suddenly added softly, “but if you take another step toward Mo Qingcheng, my possessiveness will really be unable to be suppressed.”
In a flash, Yu Yuetong belatedly blushed. She then realized that since they swapped bodies, Qin Reng seemed... a little off? But before she could think about it further, another unusual sound came from her diagonal front.
Oh no, that verbal barrage and provocative tone... Yu Yuetong's brow twitched; it seemed to indicate that someone was about to lose their temper again.
