Chapter 553 A rare opportunity
Chapter 553 A rare opportunity
Upon hearing about the restructuring, Li Xiangyang felt he had more leverage in negotiations.
Back at the factory, Ma Qingfu was checking product quality in the workshop.
"Qingfu, come here for a second," Li Xiangyang called out.
The two arrived at the office, where Li Xiangyang gave a detailed account of the negotiations that had taken place in the county.
"It seems the county is indeed sincere," Ma Qingfu analyzed. "But will they agree to the conditions you proposed?"
"It shouldn't be a big problem," Li Xiangyang said confidently. "I just took a walk around the county town and found that they need this cooperation more than we do."
"How to say?"
Li Xiangyang recounted what he had seen, and Ma Qingfu suddenly understood.
"So, we still have the initiative?"
“That’s right.” Li Xiangyang nodded.
Time flies, and three days later, Liu Jianjun called.
"Mr. Li, great news!" Liu Jianjun's voice sounded excited. "The county has agreed to your conditions. The land use period has been extended to twenty-five years, and the loan guarantee is also settled."
Li Xiangyang was secretly delighted, but remained outwardly calm: "When can we sign the formal agreement?"
"The sooner the better," Liu Jianjun said. "The county hopes this project can start as soon as possible, ideally construction could begin next month."
"Next month?" Li Xiangyang frowned. "Isn't that too rushed?"
"Time is indeed a bit tight, but there are time limits for provincial funding applications. If we miss this batch, we don't know when the next one will be."
Li Xiangyang understood; there was this other consideration.
"Okay then, let's discuss this in detail again tomorrow and finalize all the details."
"Okay, we'll be waiting for you in the county at 10 a.m. tomorrow."
After hanging up the phone, Li Xiangyang immediately called Ma Qingfu and Ma Laosan to discuss the matter.
"Starting construction next month is indeed a bit tight," Ma Qingfu said with some concern. "Our preparations aren't fully in place yet."
“It’s alright, we can prepare as we go,” Ma Laosan said, but he didn’t see it that way. “This is a rare opportunity; if we miss it, there might not be another one.”
“Third Brother is right.” After careful consideration, Li Xiangyang made his decision. “We’ll hurry up and prepare, and try to start construction on time.”
The negotiations on the second day went smoothly. The county's terms were even better than Li Xiangyang had expected; they not only agreed to his previous demands but also offered some additional benefits.
"Mr. Li, this is our draft formal cooperation agreement. Please take a look and see if there are any modifications needed." Liu Jianjun handed over a thick document.
Li Xiangyang carefully read through every clause of the agreement and found that it was indeed quite fair and reasonable.
“There’s basically no problem,” Li Xiangyang said, closing the file. “However, I have a suggestion.”
"What suggestion?"
"Could the project schedule be adjusted slightly?" Li Xiangyang asked. "After the first phase is completed, we need a trial operation phase to ensure everything is running smoothly before proceeding to the second phase."
"That's a good suggestion." Liu Jianjun nodded. "A cautious and steady approach is indeed safer."
With the agreement finalized, Li Xiangyang finally felt relieved. If this project succeeds, it will not only propel the company to new heights but also drive the development of the entire county's agricultural product processing industry.
Upon returning to the factory, Li Xiangyang immediately convened a meeting with all employees.
"As everyone knows, our factory has been doing quite well these past two years," Li Xiangyang said, standing in the workshop and looking at the workers gathered around him. "Now, an even bigger opportunity is before us."
"What opportunity?" someone asked.
"The county wants to cooperate with us to build a larger processing plant," Li Xiangyang briefly introduced the project. "If the project is successful, our factory will triple in size, and everyone's income will increase accordingly."
The workers were very excited when they heard this and started discussing it amongst themselves.
“However, I need to make this clear first,” Li Xiangyang raised his voice, “While this project has a very promising future, it also carries considerable risk. If it fails, it could affect everyone’s work.”
The workshop fell silent as everyone pondered Li Xiangyang's words.
"Mr. Li, we believe in you," Old Zhang was the first to express his support. "Having worked for you for so long, when have you ever let us down?"
“Yes, we all support you!” the other workers echoed.
Li Xiangyang felt a warmth in his heart. Most of these workers were villagers from nearby villages, and their trust in him made him feel a great sense of responsibility.
"Okay, since everyone says so, let's work together to make this project a success!" Li Xiangyang clenched his fist. "But I'm warning you upfront, the next few months will be tough, so be prepared."
"We're not afraid of hardship!" the workers answered in unison.
After the meeting, Li Xiangyang, Ma Qingfu, and Ma Laosan continued to discuss the specific implementation plan.
"The first problem to solve is manpower," Ma Qingfu said. "We simply don't have enough workers right now."
“That’s simple; there’s plenty of unemployed labor in the village,” Li Xiangyang said. “The key is training; we can’t just find a few people and put them to work.”
"Equipment procurement is also a major expense," Ma Laosan added. "The new factory will require much more complex equipment than the current one."
“I’ve already contacted several equipment suppliers,” Li Xiangyang said, pulling out a notebook. “The prices are almost finalized, and the quality is guaranteed.”
The three of them continued their discussion until 10 p.m.
Stepping out of the factory gate, Li Xiangyang looked up at the starry sky. This project was indeed very challenging, but he was confident he could do it well.
After all, the chance to be reborn is too precious to be wasted on hesitation and worry.
It's time to take bigger steps.
It was already past eleven when he got home, and Li Xiaoyun was still waiting for him in the living room.
"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Li Xiangyang walked over with concern.
"I can't sleep, I wanted to wait for you to come back." Li Xiaoyun grabbed his hand. "How did the project go?"
Li Xiangyang sat down beside her and explained the situation in the county in detail. Li Xiaoyun listened in silence for a while.
"Xiangyang, what are you thinking?" she asked with concern.
"It would be a lie to say I'm not nervous," Li Xiangyang said, holding his wife's hand. "But this is a rare opportunity; if we miss it, there might not be another one."
“I’m not worried about the money,” Li Xiaoyun looked into his eyes. “I’m worried that you’re working too hard. You’ve been working tirelessly for the past two years, neglecting things at home.”
Li Xiangyang felt a warmth in his heart and looked at his wife's face solemnly, saying, "Don't worry, once this project stabilizes, I'll shift my focus back home."
Li Xiaoyun nodded: "I believe you. But you have to promise me that no matter how busy you are, you won't neglect your health."
