Chapter 1066: The Sunset Is Infinitely Beautiful
In the evening, the gentle afterglow of the sunset bathed the temple’s outer walls, cloaking the ancient and solemn building in a layer of golden radiance.
Adrian Lancaster rose, taking Faye Turner’s hand. She thought they were heading home, but to her surprise, he led her upstairs, "Come on, let me take you somewhere. The timing is just perfect."
His steps were hurried, as if racing against something.
With curiosity, Faye followed him upstairs. He glanced back occasionally to remind her, "Be careful."
"Where are we going?" she couldn’t help but ask.
"You’ll know when we get there." He led her all the way up, passing The Grand Archives until they reached the fourth floor. Her calves were starting to ache a bit.
The room was empty, the wooden floor clean but showing traces of age. The beautiful sunset light streamed in through the door and window lattices, resembling a scene from a comic world.
Faye followed him out the door, onto the corridor, the sunset enveloping both of them, making their facial features appear even more vivid, like a perfect couple.
A row of waist-high wooden railings swayed gently in the evening breeze.
The gentle afterglow of the sunset fell, the sky slowly transitioning from golden to deep red, becoming more beautiful with each passing second. But this beauty was fleeting as the sun descended.
Faye was deeply drawn to the setting sun on the horizon. She approached the railing, gazing at the grand scene, listening to the monks chanting and meditating, feeling a profound sense of tranquility from within.
Her face, under the glow of the sunset, also became dignified and serene.
Adrian Lancaster told her, "This spot is perfect for watching the sunset."
It’s really beautiful!
The fiery red sun was gradually sinking in the west.
The deep brown wooden door had witnessed the years of monks’ cultivation.
The leaves swayed in the wind as if telling ancient stories.
Faye leaned on the railing, watching the sunset.
Adrian Lancaster discreetly took photos of her with his phone; even a silhouette or a profile was breathtakingly beautiful, the atmosphere full of charm.
Faye was stunned by the beauty of the scene. Her mood was excellent, and turning to him, she saw him holding up a camera.
"Are you taking pictures? Should I strike a few poses?"
"Sure!" Adrian was delighted.
Faye turned sideways, with a smile on her face, occasionally tilting her head, sometimes playing with her hair, changing poses.
Adrian, the photographer, had a great aesthetic sense, capturing every photo perfectly.
"Let me see?" Like most girls, Faye also loved taking photos.
He brought the phone to her, flipping through the photos one by one, "How are they? Not bad, right?"
At a mere arm’s length apart, they leaned together to admire the photos, gently enveloped by the beautiful sunset.
The atmosphere was perfect at that moment.
The gentle afterglow of the sunset fell on them, and Adrian Lancaster couldn’t resist hugging her from behind as he gazed at her lovely face.
At the temple’s summit, a flock of birds soared across the sky, their shadows and the embracing couple bathed in the sunset, as if painting a beautiful oil painting in the sky.
As Adrian Lancaster drove her down the mountain, the sunlight streaming through the car window brought about such beauty and contentment, it felt just like living in a dream.
The car drove away, and it seemed the temple bell could still be heard...
Adrian Lancaster had done so much for her to return to his world, and Faye was deeply touched.
They returned home, a sumptuous dinner was ready.
After dining together, he went to prepare medicine for her, while Faye went to the children’s room to accompany the kids.
Mrs. Rhodes was also there.
"Madam, did the young master take you to the temple today?" Mrs. Rhodes speculated with a smile.
Faye looked at her and nodded.
Mrs. Rhodes told her, "He probably still has a year’s worth of copying left and might not finish it. It was a promise made in front of Buddha. Did you help with the copying today?"
"Yes." She nodded, "Copying scriptures can calm the mind. It’s a good place, with a kind of peace and serenity beyond the mundane."
