Chapter 410 - 384: I Can Be a Good House Husband
Chapter 410 - 384: I Can Be a Good House Husband
"Did you two hear that?" Aurora Sinclair asked, looking at Alvin Morgan and Alaric Winslow.
"The sound of a metal clasp?" Alvin Morgan took her hand and examined the ring’s shape. ’I feel like I’ve seen this somewhere before.’
When it seemed neither of them had heard it, Aurora Sinclair gave a slight shake of her head.
Just then, an ethereal and distant voice echoed in Aurora Sinclair’s ears once more. "Successor, return only after you have reached the Quasi-God Realm..."
She had thought she was the only one who could hear it, but to her surprise, Alaric Winslow beside her suddenly knelt and bowed toward an empty space. "Alaric Winslow pays his respects to the Ancestor—"
Aurora Sinclair immediately performed a respectful Ancient Martial Ceremony in the same direction. "Thank you, Ancestor Winslow, for saving my life!"
The ethereal voice traveled an incredible distance; almost everyone on the Holy Mountain heard it.
Their expressions varied as they all turned to look toward the Holy Mountain.
At the foot of the mountain, Flint Winslow’s lips were pressed into a thin line. His fists were clenched so tightly at his sides that his nails dug into his palms.
’He actually gave the inheritance to an outsider!’
Jasper Winslow suddenly raised his hand and struck one of Flint Winslow’s acupoints, sending a domineering wave of Power surging into his body.
"Jasper, you..."
Jasper Winslow’s expression darkened. "This is the Ancestor’s decision. You’d best conduct yourself accordingly!"
Although both were in the Demigod Realm, Jasper was on the verge of entering the Quasi-God Realm, making him stronger than Flint. It would take Flint at least a year to completely dissolve the Power Jasper had implanted in him.
’This will also give the girl enough time to leave the Holy Mountain safely.’
Flint Winslow’s face was ashen. Feeling the terrifying Power now inside him, he snapped, "Are we just going to let an outsider walk away with our clan’s true inheritance?"
"The Ancestor thinks of the greater good..."
"The greater good? Our own clan is on the verge of extinction..."
"Silence!" Jasper Winslow barked. He shot a cautious glance toward the peak of the Holy Mountain, then lowered his voice. "Junior Brother, do you have a death wish?"
Flint’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately snapped his mouth shut.
’Ever since I reached the Demigod Realm, there’s been a voice in my head. I can’t believe I just let it guide me and said what I was really thinking out loud.’
Seeing that Flint had fallen silent, Jasper continued to reason with him. "Do not speak of this again. The Winslow Clan has its own fate. Since the Ancestor chose her as his successor, he must have his reasons. All we of the Winslow Clan need to do is continue our Martial Cultivation and strive to become Quasi-gods so we may enter the Hidden Realm. Alaric will be bringing them down shortly. You are not to cause any more trouble. Do you understand?"
Flint Winslow had no choice but to swallow his objections and nod.
The two waited for a while longer, and finally, three figures descended from the mountain.
Two men and a woman.
Flint Winslow had assumed the successor would be a man; he never expected it to be such a young girl.
Her silver hair... it was the same color as the hair in the Ancestor’s portrait...
Flint Winslow’s fists clenched again.
Jasper Winslow smiled and said to Aurora Sinclair, "You must be the Ancestor’s successor, then?"
Aurora Sinclair glanced at the ring on her finger. She raised her hand and bowed respectfully to the two elders, whose power far surpassed her own. "I am Aurora Sinclair, a junior. It is an honor to meet you, Elders."
Jasper Winslow nodded in satisfaction. "I am Jasper Winslow, and this is my junior brother, Flint Winslow. Since the Ancestor has acknowledged you, you are now one of the Holy Mountain. Your current strength is at the Martial Lord level, which means you qualify to be a Regulator..."
But before he could finish his sentence, Flint Winslow cut in. "Senior Brother, that is unacceptable. In the Martial World, promotions are earned through strength and merit. Even we, the Makers, had to fight our way up from the rank of Guardian."
What Flint Winslow said was true. Two thousand years ago, they had been Guardians of the nation that preceded Veridia.
Jasper Winslow knew his junior brother was dissatisfied with the chosen successor, but...
"Very well. I will participate in the Guardian assembly a year from now." Aurora Sinclair gave another bow in the ancient martial style.
Jasper Winslow was pleased. "Excellent. We will await your return on the Holy Mountain. Alaric, see them out."
***
Three years ago, they had both been unconscious upon arrival. Only now, as they were leaving, did they realize the area was protected by a clever illusion.
The icebergs here were densely packed and all looked alike. When Alaric Winslow had first brought them, he had deliberately led them in circles to completely disorient Alvin Morgan before knocking him out and taking them both to the Holy Mountain.
The person escorting them out was, surprisingly, Aurora Sinclair’s grandmaster, Kael Miles.
"To be chosen by the Martial God is a mark of your own great fortune," Kael Miles said, his expression complex as he looked at her. "Your master taught you well. Go and visit him when you have the time."
On the boat, Aurora Sinclair performed the formal discipleship ceremony of the Martial World. "Disciple Dawn Miles pays her respects to you, Grandmaster."
A trace of a smile finally appeared on Kael Miles’s stern face. He glanced at Alvin Morgan and suddenly said, "The Sect Leader of the Radiant Void Sect can change the sect rules."
Aurora Sinclair’s eyes suddenly widened. She blinked twice, stunned for a moment.
Beside her, Alvin Morgan’s face lit up with joy. He also performed an Ancient Martial Ceremony for Kael Miles. "Thank you for your blessing, Grandmaster."
But Kael Miles’s smile faded, and he replied stiffly, "With your qualifications, you could never enter my Radiant Void Sect."
Alvin Morgan froze for a second before a grin spread across his face. "I can be a supportive husband."
Kael Miles let out a dismissive, cold snort and ignored him. "Dawn, come fish with your grandmaster."
***
Kael Miles took them to the nearest continent, the Continent of Boreas, and then bid them farewell.
"Ditto, contact Beta Morgan!"
"Yes, Dad."
Soon, Beta Morgan’s somewhat haggard face appeared on Ditto’s screen.
The moment he saw Alvin Morgan and Aurora Sinclair, he was so overwhelmed with emotion that he burst into tears, covering his face and unable to speak for a long time.
For once, Alvin Morgan didn’t mock him for the pathetic display.
"Sir... I’m coming to get you right away."
The Continent of Boreas was mostly comprised of snow-covered mountains and frozen earth, an inhospitable environment for human life. It was virtually uninhabited, so to leave, they would have to cross the mountain range.
For someone with the strength of a Martial Lord like Kael Miles or Aurora Sinclair, crossing the snow mountains would be easy, but for someone with Alvin Morgan’s constitution, it would be quite difficult.
Alvin Morgan knew Kael Miles had done this on purpose.
’The people from Sunstone are so petty.’
About an hour later, a helicopter with a black wolf’s head painted on it flew over.
Four fully armed men expertly rappelled down ropes from the hovering aircraft.
"Sir, Aurora—"
The four men stood ramrod straight. The visors on their helmets were frosted over, a clear sign they had just been crying.
"How are things at home?"
Aiden Morgan spoke first. "The Old Master publicly declared the Second Master as the new Young Master and has expelled you from the Morgan Family. Your mother and Ray Morgan broke ties with both the Whitlock and Morgan families. She took half of the Morgan Group’s shares, started her own company with the money, and invested in the Kane Family. The Head of the Sinclair Family stepped down, ceding the position to the fifth miss, Janet Sinclair. She has publicly severed all cooperation with the Morgan Family and named Aurora the new Young Master of the Sinclair Family..."
When Aurora Sinclair heard this, she was instantly stunned.
’Why would my aunt make me the Young Master of the Sinclair Family?’
Alvin Morgan thought for a moment. "Why did she invest in the Kane Family?"
"Your mother said it’s her daughter-in-law’s first business venture, so she has to give it her full support!"
"..."
Just then, Dean Morgan spoke up. "The Whitlock Family has been hounding the Sinclair Family for the last three years. Even though your mother has been supporting them in secret, this time, the Whitlocks are dead set on destroying the Sinclair Family completely..."
