Chapter 425 Step by Step Shocking Jade Tan 47
How he wished that he was the one suffering in the bed at this moment. He was willing to give everything he had in exchange for Yu Tan's safety.
"My queen, please try a little harder, the baby will be out soon!" The midwife kept encouraging her, with a hint of anxiety in her tone.
"Think about the emperor and the baby in your belly. You must hold on!"
Yutan's consciousness was already a little fuzzy, but she still tried hard to open her eyes and see the person she was worried about.
In a trance, she seemed to see Kangxi's anxious face and hear his gentle voice. A warm current surged in her heart, making her feel a little comfort in the endless pain.
She took a deep breath and used all her strength to respond to him, to tell him that she was fine and that she would try her best to give birth to their child.
With a loud "bang", the door of the bedroom was pushed open from the outside, and Kangxi walked in with big strides, his face ashen.
The midwives and palace maids were so frightened that they knelt on the ground and pleaded in unison: "Your Majesty, please forgive us. We deserve to die..."
Kangxi didn't even look at them. He walked straight to the bed, held Yutan's hand, and asked distressedly: "Yutan, how are you? Is it painful?"
Yutan was about to faint from the pain, but when she saw Kangxi, she felt a great joy and relief in her heart. She tried hard to force a smile, but the pain in her body was aroused and she could not help but groan.
"Your Majesty, how did you get in? This place is filthy, please get out..."
Kangxi frowned, looking at Yutan's pale face and sweaty temples, feeling distressed.
He gently wiped the sweat from her forehead and said softly, "I said I would stay with you."
Seeing that Kangxi had no intention of leaving, the midwife did not dare to say anything and had to continue delivering the baby.
"My lady, please push a little harder, the baby will be out soon!"
Yutan gritted her teeth and tried again and again under the midwife's instructions.
Kangxi held her hand tightly, feeling every effort she made, every pain she felt. His heart seemed to be tightly grasped by an invisible hand, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
He had never felt so deeply the fragility and preciousness of life as he did now.
I don't know how long it took, but a loud baby cry finally sounded in the bedroom, breaking the tense and depressing atmosphere.
"Congratulations, Your Majesty, congratulations, Your Majesty, it's a prince!" The midwife, holding a swaddled baby, announced the good news to Kangxi with joy on her face.
However, Kangxi seemed not to hear her words. His eyes were always fixed on Yutan. Looking at her face which became paler due to childbirth, his heart was filled with worry and heartache.
"Tan'er, how are you? Are you okay?" he asked softly, with a barely perceptible tremor in his voice.
Yu Tan smiled weakly and tried to speak, but found that she had no strength left. She slowly closed her eyes, letting fatigue and sleepiness wash over her.
"Yutan! Yutan!" Kangxi panicked upon seeing this. He hugged Yutan tightly and called her name loudly, his voice full of fear and helplessness.
"Imperial Physician! Send the message to the Imperial Physician quickly!"
There was chaos in the bedroom again.
Ruoxi was frightened by the chaotic scene before her. She saw Yutan's face was pale, her eyes were closed, and she was lying lifelessly in Kangxi's arms. Her heart sank immediately, thinking that Yutan was dead.
Fear and sadness surged into her heart like a tide, making her almost unable to stand. She could only hold tightly to the arm of the palace maid beside her to barely keep her balance.
The imperial doctors took Yu Tan's pulse tremblingly, with beads of sweat dripping down their foreheads, but they still couldn't wake him up.
Kangxi was so anxious that his anger almost set the entire palace on fire: "What a bunch of rubbish! Hurry up and think of a solution!"
"Your Majesty, please calm down..." An elderly imperial physician knelt down tremblingly.
"Your Majesty has only fainted temporarily because you have spent too much energy giving birth and are exhausted. I will prescribe a prescription to replenish your Qi and blood. Your Majesty will be fine after taking it."
Kangxi took a deep breath and suppressed his anger: "If anything happens to the imperial concubine, you will bring your heads to me!"
The imperial doctors were as if they had been pardoned, and they quickly left to write prescriptions. Kangxi sat by the bed, holding Yutan's cold hand.
"Your Majesty, please have some ginseng soup." Li Dequan advised softly, holding a bowl of ginseng soup.
Kangxi shook his head, his eyes never leaving Yutan: "I'm not hungry, you can leave."
Seeing this, Li Dequan didn't dare to say anything more and could only step aside silently.
Kangxi stayed by Yutan's side, his heart burning with anxiety. The imperial physician had already given her the medicine, but Yutan was still unconscious. He held Yutan's hand tightly, as if he wanted to pass all his warmth to her.
There was a noise outside the bedroom, coming from far away and getting closer. Kangxi frowned impatiently.
"Your Majesty, Concubine De requests to see you." Li Dequan's voice sounded outside the palace.
Kangxi snorted coldly: "No! Just say I'm busy today!"
"Your Majesty, I heard that the imperial concubine's sister gave birth to a prince, so I came to visit her." Defei's voice was delicate, but it could not hide the hint of pride in her tone.
"Get in!" Kangxi almost squeezed out these two words from between his teeth.
Concubine De entered the bedroom with a group of palace maids and eunuchs. She first walked to the cradle and pretended to look at the sleeping prince, then walked to the bed and said to the unconscious Yu Tan in a hypocritical manner: "Sister, you are so lucky. You gave birth to a prince, and the emperor stayed by your side all the time. Who in the harem can compare to you?"
Kangxi looked at her coldly, his eyes full of disgust. He had long seen through this woman's hypocritical face.
"Defei, if you are here to congratulate me, I thank you for your kindness. If you are here to be sarcastic, then get out of my sight as soon as possible!" Kangxi said mercilessly.
De Fei's face froze, but soon she returned to her pitiful look: "Your Majesty, I am worried about my sister, so I came to see you. Why are you so angry?"
"Worried? If you are really worried, you should know that Tan'er hates your hypocritical look the most!"
Kangxi was furious. He pointed at Yutan's pale face and roared, "Look at her now. It's all caused by you vicious women!"
Defei was frightened by Kangxi's sudden anger. She had never seen Kangxi lose his composure like this. She stood there in a daze for a moment, not knowing what to do.
"Get out! Get out of here!" Kangxi roared. The palace maids and eunuchs in the bedroom were frightened out of their wits. They lowered their heads and crawled out.
