Chapter 109 Day 2 of Dai You’s disappearance

Xia Lanyue felt that searching aimlessly was not a solution, so she returned to the Xia family home first.

She gently knocked on Xia Yao's door, but there was no answer; he must be asleep, so she didn't disturb him.

Looking at the sky, it was around 5 PM, time for her to brew the medicine, so she went into the kitchen.

Looking at the clay pot, she couldn't help but think of Dai You again. She had taken a lot of medicine while she was here, but Dai You had never let her brew it. No matter how late or tired he was, he always did it. Thinking of this, Xia Lanyue felt a pang of guilt and regretted what she had done to Dai You. "Ouch!" Xia Lanyue accidentally burned her hand. She quickly put her hand into cold water to cool it down. Now, she missed Dai You even more.

Not long after, Xia Lanyue heard someone calling her name outside the door, "Dai Xiyue".

Xia Lanyue was stunned. That voice belonged to Jiang Di!

She went outside and saw Jiang Di standing at the door. "What are you doing here?!"

"You... I was just passing by and came to see if you were here. You haven't been to the store for two days. I thought you had run away," Jiang Di joked.

"Hehe, I'm running away, so I'm letting you know," Xia Lanyue said with a smile.

"Why aren't you coming? Aren't you making money?" Jiang Di asked.

Xia Lanyue stammered, "I've been busy these past few days, so I haven't had a chance to talk to you."

Seeing her expression, Jiang Di didn't press the matter. Instead, she handed over the item in her hand, saying, "Here, take this. Someone gave it to me earlier, but I was too lazy to take it back."

Xia Lanyue was puzzled and reached out to take a lotus leaf sachet. "What is this?" She smelled it but couldn't smell anything. She opened a small gap but couldn't see what was inside.

"Sticky rice cake," Jiang Di said.

"Oh, I like this, thank you," Xia Lanyue said, then immediately felt it was inappropriate, "Someone gave it to you, and you're just giving it to me, is that really okay?!"

“It’s okay, he doesn’t know either. By the way, are you coming to the shop tomorrow? Abei said he wants to eat rice cakes,” Jiang Di asked.

"I can't go these next few days, something's come up at home," Xia Lanyue said, lowering her head. She looked a little dejected. She didn't want Jiang Di to notice, but he still did.

"What happened?!" Jiang Di suddenly realized something and asked loudly, "Did that guy surnamed Xia bully you?!"

"Hey, keep your voice down," Xia Lanyue quickly made a shushing gesture and looked around.

"What's there to be afraid of?!" Jiang Di said nonchalantly.

"That's not how it is," Xia Lanyue explained, then suddenly remembered that Jiang Di might be able to help him. "Um, you have a lot of connections, could you do me a favor? I need to find out something."

"What's the matter? Tell me."

"Help me find out where Dai You went?" Xia Lanyue asked anxiously.

"Dai You?! Your brother?!" Jiang Di thought she had misheard.

“Yes,” Xia Lanyue lowered her head, “He, he… he ran away, I don’t know where he went, I made him angry.”

Hearing her say that, Jiang Di was unsure of what to say.

Xia Lanyue looked up at him and asked, "Is it okay?"

“Okay, of course. I’ll go back to town and ask around for you. I’ll come find you when I have any news.”

Jiang Di's words gave Xia Lanyue a lot of confidence, and her eyes immediately lit up. "Thank you!" Xia Lanyue said happily.

Jiang Di scratched his head sheepishly, "It's nothing, just a small favor."

Just then, Jiang Di glanced towards the end of the village and saw that some villagers seemed to be walking towards them. He looked at them, then turned to Xia Lanyue and said, "I'll come to find you tomorrow. You can go back now. I'm leaving."

After saying that, Jiang Di walked quickly towards the village entrance.

After watching Jiang Di leave, Xia Lanyue looked towards the end of the village. She couldn't see who it was, but the person looked somewhat familiar. However, she didn't pay much attention to it and went straight back to her courtyard.

Not long after entering the house, I heard Xia Huifang's voice in the yard. It was her from earlier.

She knocked on Xia Lanyue's door and poked her head in, saying, "A-Yue, I'm back."

"Aunt Xia is back so early today," Xia Lanyue said, standing up to reply.

“I finished my work quickly today and came back right away. How did you know I like glutinous rice cakes? I saw there was a bag of them in the kitchen,” Xia Huifang said with a smile.

"Ah, I'm glad Aunt Xia likes it," Xia Lanyue said.

Xia Huifang nodded, smiled, and left her room. She then turned and went into Xia Yao's room.

She whispered to Xia Yao, "Hey, did A-Yue go to town today?"

"no".

“Oh dear, when I came back just now, I saw A-Yue talking to a man at our door,” Xia Huifang said nervously. “He must have given us that glutinous rice cake.”

"Oh? Who is it?" Xia Yao put down his book and looked up at Xia Huifang.

"It was too far away, I couldn't see clearly," Xia Huifang said anxiously. "How did things go with your discussion? Did she agree?"

"no".

"What?! She doesn't want to?" Xia Lanyue's eyes widened in disbelief.

“It was my fault for not saying it,” Xia Yao said.

"What?!" Xia Huifang looked puzzled. "The way she acted yesterday, I thought it was... Oh dear, you have to hurry up and settle this matter, so other men don't get their eyes on her. Look, someone's already following her to the door," Xia Huifang said anxiously.

"Don't worry, Mom, I know what I'm doing. Don't worry about it," Xia Yao replied to Xia Huifang with a confident smile.

The first rays of morning light shone into Xia Lanyue's room.

She slowly opened her eyes, then suddenly sat up, not even bothering to put on her shoes, and ran to the west room.

In the west room, A-Cheng was still asleep, alone on the couch.

Dai You still hasn't returned.

Xia Lanyue stepped out, gently closed the door, and went back into the house.

It seems Dai You is really angry! This is already the second day, and I wonder where he went? Where could he possibly go?!

She quickly opened the door and looked into the west room. It wasn't Dai You standing there, but A-Cheng. He was up.
