Chapter 860: I can't write this chapter, but can Miss Xu?
Chapter 860: I can't write this chapter, but can Miss Xu?
Wen Ning waited quietly in her seat.
Soon, Zhou Yi returned carrying a tray.
In this kind of environment, the two of them didn't talk to each other, they just kept their heads down and ate their food.
"I'm going to the restroom," Wen Ning said, putting down her chopsticks and getting up.
Zhou Yi nodded, but didn't say anything.
The restrooms are right next to the vegetarian dining area and are not open to the public, so Zhou Yi doesn't need to worry about safety.
When Wen Ning came out of the restroom and washed her hands at the sink, she quieted down as the light reflected off the tiles in front of her shone through.
Because she saw Xu Jia.
I never expected Xu Jia to be here.
But now that I think about it, it's not surprising.
Xu Jia and the Zhou family are old friends.
So it's not surprising that there's a side room in Xiangshan Temple.
She and Zhou Yi made no attempt to hide their whereabouts, so it's not surprising that Xu Jia was keeping an eye on them and found them here.
Wen Ning didn't try to avoid the question and looked at Xu Jia openly.
But Wen Ning showed no intention of speaking to Xu Jia, not even bothering to greet her, and turned to leave.
Xu Jia's expression changed.
She just hated Wen Ning like that.
It seemed that nothing could agitate Wen Ning.
She is completely different from the naive Wen Ning of six years ago.
"Wen Ning, is it meaningful for you to push Zhou Yi to this point?" Xu Jia questioned Wen Ning aggressively.
Wen Ning looked at Xu Jia calmly, a half-smile playing on her lips.
This attitude made Xu Jia even more unhappy.
She was clearly in control.
It seems that Wen Ning now holds all the initiative.
"Don't think I don't know that you're afraid I'll take Zhou Yi away from you, so you're using the fact that you gave birth to a daughter for Zhou Yi to manipulate him."
"Don't you know how much money the entire group lost by preventing Zhou Yi from coming? Do you know how much responsibility Zhou Yi will have to resign for this?"
Xu Jia spoke with righteous indignation.
Wen Ning simply listened.
She felt that if Wen Ning had said that to her six years ago, she would have been completely flustered.
But Wen Ning now seemed to be listening to someone else's joke, completely ignoring it.
"Do you think you can still stand openly next to Zhou Yi?" Xu Jia sneered, her tone particularly sarcastic.
Wen Ning simply looked at Xu Jia and asked, "If I can't, then is it possible for Miss Xu?"
"You..." One sentence was enough to make Xu Jia's expression change.
“Zhou Yi and I have been separated for six years. Back then, you painstakingly tried to sow discord between us. Obviously, you haven’t succeeded in these six years.” Wen Ning spread his hands, speaking as calmly as ever.
Xu Jia's expression turned even more unpleasant.
It felt like being trampled and rubbed on the ground by Wen Ning.
He was so suppressed that he couldn't utter a single word.
"I've given you so much time, and you still couldn't become Mrs. Zhou. It's probably unlikely now either," Wen Ning said sarcastically.
After that, Wen Ning did not continue talking to Xu Jia.
"Sorry, I won't keep you company." Wen Ning said indifferently. "Besides, Miss Xu, if you're so capable, you can appear in front of me openly. There's no need for you to follow me like this and block me here. It's pointless."
After saying that, Wen Ning walked right past Xu Jia.
Whether out of embarrassment or anger, Xu Jia suddenly grabbed Wen Ning's hand.
But the next second, Wen Ning slammed Xu Jia to the ground with a backhand tug.
Xu Jia had never suffered such humiliation before, and stared at Wen Ning in astonishment.
The disarray was obvious.
Wen Ning, however, showed no intention of letting Xu Jia off the hook, looking down at her.
"Xu Jia, do you really think I know nothing?" Wen Ning questioned Xu Jia.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Xu Jia denied without even thinking.
"When I was pregnant and gave birth prematurely, there was actually a glimmer of hope for the baby when he was taken to the hospital. It was you who held back the doctor and prevented him from saving him, wasn't it?"
"You watched your child gradually lose strength and hope, and that's when you let the doctor in to pretend to resuscitate the gorilla, right?"
"Because we won't allow this child to live, and we're afraid he'll become an obstacle for you."
Wen Ning's every word was a questioning of Xu Jia.
She looked down at them from her high vantage point, her eyes appearing indifferent.
A fleeting hint of ruthlessness flashed across his indifferent gaze.
Even that kind of look sent chills down Xu Jia's spine.
"So what?" Xu Jia composed herself. "You have no evidence. Relying on your words alone is of no use."
"Heh—" Wen Ning smiled faintly.
He didn't even seem inclined to continue talking to Xu Jia.
But there was a deeper meaning in Wen Ning's eyes.
Before Xu Jia could react, Wen Ning released her hand and turned to leave.
Because of this sudden movement, Xu Jia fell to the ground again.
As she watched Wen Ning's departing figure, the hatred in her eyes grew increasingly evident.
After a long while, Xu Jia finally stood up.
She refused to believe that Wen Ning could remain smug for long.
Did she think that everything would be fine once Zhou Yi resigned to take responsibility?
Of course not. All this evidence points to Zhou Yi. The person who can get through this unscathed is her, not Wen Ning.
Xu Jia walked out of the restroom with a sullen face.
After Wen Ning left, she quietly returned to her room.
Zhou Yi looked over: "Why did you take so long?"
Wen Ning just stared at Zhou Yi without saying a word.
"What's wrong?" Zhou Yi asked again.
"I ran into Xu Jia. Xu Jia is probably here to cause me trouble, or to find you." Wen Ning said calmly.
Zhou Yi nodded.
For Wen Ning, the relationship between the three of them was filled with unpleasant memories.
Xu Jia always comes out on top.
However, she couldn't explain everything to Zhou Yi. Even if she did, and they argued and quarreled, Zhou Yi still chose to believe Xu Jia in the end.
"I mocked her, and when she was about to attack me, I threw her to the ground." Wen Ning calmly recounted what had happened to Zhou Yi.
After that, Wen Ning fell silent.
"Are you injured?" Zhou Yi frowned, looking Wen Ning up and down.
"No, my wrist hurts a little," Wen Ning said casually.
In the instant he grabbed Xu Jia, he suddenly exerted force and injured his own wrist.
Zhou Yi immediately stood up, asked the young monk for some pain-relieving plaster for bruises and sprains, and then carefully massaged Wen Ning's sprains.
Wen Ning just watched quietly.
"Zhou Yi, do you know? Six years ago, I really hated you to the core."
"Because you always believe Xu Jia, not me. You believe her attempts to sow discord and think I'm being unreasonable."
“Even when I was pregnant, you stood by Xu Jia’s side without hesitation, as if I was the unreasonable one.”
“Sui Sui has had several accidents, but you didn’t care. You always think that I shouldn’t have gotten angry, that I’m being petty.”
"I can't describe the feeling. Little by little, the emotions accumulated, and after repeatedly dodging crises, I was truly disheartened."
"I swear, I will never forgive you again in this lifetime, and I will never go near you again."
