Chapter 142 Meeting Nura Again
Chapter 142 Meeting Nura Again
Karl's head ached violently, and everything in front of him was pitch black. He wanted to get up, but he heard a cold voice:
"Don't move~"
It was a woman's voice, and it seemed familiar.
"I am..."
"You are under attack," the voice continued.
Being attacked? Karl's mind was full of doubts. Who attacked him? He felt a little confused.
"Don't you remember?" the voice sounded again.
Remember... Carl tried hard to recall everything that happened before. He remembered that he was leading a team of witch hunters to search the village of Oang.
"We are in Aoang Village..."
"Then?"
Then they encountered the crazy villagers, and after defeating them, they completely transformed into undead creatures... It was a hard battle, but they still won.
"Victory..."
"Yes." The woman's cold voice sounded again.
"And then?" she asked again.
"And then..." Carl continued to think in his mind, and then his head began to hurt severely, as if recalling had become an extremely difficult thing. The severe pain made him wail in pain, and his voice was heartbreaking.
"Damn it~" A man's voice suddenly came from the side, "We can't stop it!"
The woman's voice remained calm: "Keep reminiscing, don't stop. Tell me what happened to you afterwards."
At the woman's request, Carl endured the severe pain and began to recall again:
"Wolf... there is a wolf..."
The images in my memory began to resurface and replaced the haze in my mind:
Yes, he remembered that not long after they left the village, they encountered a pack of wolves, but those were not ordinary wolves. Their fur was mottled and rotten, their bright red teeth were exposed, and their eyes were flashing with strange light. Instead, they were transformed into terrifying undead creatures just like the villagers.
"Everyone prepare for battle!" he remembered shouting to the crowd.
The witch hunters quickly formed two rows of defense, one row with shields raised and the other row with bows and arrows drawn.
The wolves were approaching quickly, and they began to shoot arrows, but the arrows could not cause any damage. The wolves easily broke through the rain of arrows and pounced on their defenses.
At this critical moment, Amira built a wall of fire to block the oncoming wolves, but the wolves still did not hesitate. They kept attacking the wall of fire. After the first batch was burned and fell down, the second batch continued to rush up. The corpses kept piling up in front of the witch hunters, and finally they relied on their numbers to crush the wall of fire.
Eleanor cast her magic again, but these guys were much more flexible and smarter than the villagers before. When the light came on, they quickly retreated into the darkness, and when the bishop's magic ran out, they came back again.
The most important thing is that there are too many wolves. They are surrounded and unable to fight four hands with two fists. They gradually fall into trouble...
"We... are surrounded..." The memories continued, accompanied by severe pain, and every time he recalled it, his head almost exploded.
He hears Amira’s first anxious voice call out to him:
"There are too many of them, we need to retreat!"
"Follow me and fight your way out!"
He remembered drawing his sword and personally stepping forward to fight the wolves.
A huge undead wolf suddenly pounced on him. He blocked its attack with his sword, but the force was so great that he was pushed back. The wolf's claws scratched his armor, tearing a large hole in it. He felt a sharp pain in his chest, and blood stained his clothes red.
He gritted his teeth and fought back, finally knocking the wolf to the ground. But just when he breathed a sigh of relief, the wolf pounced on him again and knocked him to the ground.
“Karl!” Eleanor exclaimed. Holy light lit up in her hands and killed the giant wolf. “Are you okay?”
"It's okay~ just a skin wound," he shouted at the other party, trying to struggle to get up, but suddenly felt his feet go weak and he fell to the ground again. The others were still fighting, but he felt his body getting weaker and weaker, his hands were powerless, and he even felt a little sleepy.
Just as he was about to fall asleep, he heard someone shouting:
"careful!"
Then he saw another wolf pounce on him, opening its bloody mouth, and then he remembered nothing more.
"So you were bitten?" the woman's voice continued.
"Yes..." The recollection ended here. He lost consciousness after being knocked down by the wolf.
Then he thought of Amira and others.
"What about the others? How are they?"
"Don't worry, they are all fine. Instead of this, you should worry about yourself." The woman said again.
"Give up, it's no use, you've been infected." The man's voice sounded again.
"Infection? What infection?" he asked puzzledly.
"They are naturally the undead. You will soon join them now that you have been bitten," the woman said.
"It's too late. By the time we get there, he's already dead," said the man.
Now Carl finally understood. This was just like the zombies in Resident Evil. Once bitten, you would be infected and turn into a zombie.
"So, I'm done?" he said with a wry smile.
"Not necessarily. There is one last method, although it is very risky." The woman said again.
"It's impossible. He is just an ordinary man. There is no way he can survive." said the man.
"How do you know if you don't try? Let's give it a try now." said the woman.
"What...method?" Carl asked excitedly.
"Freezing your body completely will prevent the infection from continuing and buy us time," said the woman.
"Freeze the body?" Carl asked.
"Yes," the woman continued, "but... there's a high probability that you'll die. Most people won't be able to survive after being thawed, but we don't have much choice."
Freezing the human body to prevent infection is indeed a method... the last method, Carl thought.
"I understand." He nodded reluctantly, "But, can you freeze me?"
“Of course. Not to mention you, I can freeze any creature, no matter how big it is. You’ve seen my magic before.” The woman said again.
"I've seen it before?" Carl was confused again. He had seen freezing magic before? Wait, he suddenly realized why that voice was so familiar. The first person who could do magic that he met in this world used freezing magic!
Thinking of this, he used all his strength to open his eyes a little, and then he saw the woman's face. Although it was blurry, he still recognized her:
"Snow Princess...Nura!"
"Yes, it's me. Long time no see, Carl Flandal!" the girl responded impatiently.
"Why should I..." He tried to get up again, but was pushed back rudely by the other party.
"It was your wizard who handed you over to me," said Nura.
“Amira? Why?” Carl asked again.
"Of course I am the only one who can save you!" Noura replied.
"Save me? You're not..."
"Don't push your luck, Carl. If I could, I really want to kill you with my own hands, but..." Noura paused for a moment, then changed the subject and said, "So are you willing to take the risk?"
Karl sighed slightly and forced a smile:
"Forget it. Even if I fail, it would be an honor to die in your hands. At least I die under the peony flowers..."
"Stop talking so smoothly." Before he could finish, Noura interrupted him again, then she sighed and finally said, "Then let's get started!"
"Yeah." As Carl nodded, the girl put the ice spear in her hand against his forehead, and then the biting cold surged from the tip of the spear, instantly piercing his brain. Under this chill, his head hurt more than before. It felt like he had eaten a big mouthful of ice cream in a hurry, and the result was that it went straight to his forehead, but it was ten thousand times stronger than the feeling of eating ice cream. Carl wanted to scream in pain, but soon found that he could no longer make a sound. His mouth, nose, ears, and even vocal cords were frozen. Not long after, he lost consciousness again...
When Carl was completely turned into an ice stick, Noura put away her spear. She glanced at the scout beside her and said:
"Okay, take him back. We need to hurry up, the sooner the better!"
